Food editing

Pigeons eat wheat, rice, kaun, paddy, khud, china mustard, dabli, reza, buckwheat, various seeds etc. Pigeons also eat food prepared for chickens. Adequate amount of pure water should be given with food. There may be two pigeons in a space of 2 × 2 feet. Pigeon habitat is to be kept away from animals like dogs, cats, beji etc. You have to keep an eye on the pigeon house so that water does not come in. It is recommended to keep the pigeon house clean at all times. Both the female and the male pigeons feed the baby with their lips by mixing milk with the granular food until the chicks feed on their own. The food prepared for pigeons should be a balanced diet rich in sugars, carbs, nutrients or vitamins, fats and mineral salts. Pigeons prefer granular foods over mash or powdered foods. For small size pigeons 20-30 grams, for medium size 35-50 grams and for large size 50-60 grams of feed should be given daily. Wheat, paddy, maize, sorghum, oats should be provided 80 per cent of the granular food and mustard, khesari, matikalai 30-35 per cent of the leguminous or pulses. In order to provide vitamin P to pigeons, it is necessary to supply green vegetables and young grass in addition to the vitamins available in the market. It is better to provide food twice a day. Occasionally stones, brick particles (grit) and pieces of raw turmeric should be given as this grit helps in breaking down food in the stomach and keeping the turmeric stomach clean or germ free.

When laying pigeon eggs, grit mixture or mineral mixture is essential for making eggs and egg shells and good hatchability. This mineral mixture should be made of Bone Mill (boiled) 5%, Oyster 40%, Lime Stone 35%, Ground Lime Stone 5%, Salt 4%, Charcoal 10% and Sheen Red 1%.

Different species of pigeons also eat different foods. Golla pigeons usually eat all kinds of grains. And the mountain pigeon eats paddy, wheat, mustard, linseed, maize, kusum flower beech etc. Fancy pigeon food is double boot, gram boot, wheat, sunflower beech, kusum flower beech etc. Homer's diet is quite different. Their food is prepared by mixing 16 grains of grain. These foods include nuts, double boots, gram boots, sunflower seeds, kusum flower seeds, linseed, buckwheat, chickpeas, mug pulses, masakalai, lentils, helen pulses, etc. When Homer pigeons are trained to compete, these foods are fed with butter or ghee mixed with rice. It is better to use the following food mixture for commercial production of pigeons.

Food Ingredients (%) Maize 35% Peas 20% Wheat 30% Oyster Powder / Limestone Crushed / Bone Crushed 07% Vitamin / Amino Acids Jopremix 08% Salt 01% Total = 100%

Water supply- Deep or shallow water containers should be cleaned well and clean and pure water should be provided 3 times a day. If water mixed with potash is given every two weeks, the stomach will be protected from the attack of various germs.

Amino Acids- Meats provide a variety of amino acids that are vital for body building. The amino acids that are not synthesized in the bird's body are called essential amino acids. So the birds need to be provided with amino acid rich food (dried fish powder, mustard, sesame and peanut butter).

Lifespan, reproduction

Like ducks and chickens, any dead pigeon does not easily mate with a female pigeon. If you keep them together for a week, they will be paired. Eggs are produced in the reproductive system of pigeons like chickens. However, only two follicles are usually formed together in the ovary. For this reason, each female pigeon lays two eggs. Eggs are laid 40-44 hours before laying and fertilized at least 24 hours before laying. That is, the egg stays in the ovary for 18-20 hours, during which time it is fertilized. After laying eggs, both male and female pigeons start laying eggs in stages. The female pigeon lays her eggs from about noon till the next morning and the rest of the time i.e. from morning to afternoon the male pigeon lays it. Fertile or infertile eggs can be identified by examining the eggs on the fifth day. If you hold it in front of the lamp, you can see the blood vessels inside the fertile egg. But in case of infertile eggs the inside of the egg will look transparent. Usually 16-18 days after laying the eggs hatch. Thus a female pigeon can usually produce 10-12 pairs of young in 12 months. From the first day of life to the age of 28 days, the baby pigeon has a growing condition. At first the whole body is covered with yellow thin hairs. The nostrils and ear piercings look quite large at this time. After about 4-5 days, the child's eyes open or open. On the fifteenth day the whole body is covered with flocks. In about 19-20 days, both wings and tail mature and the lips become normal. In this way the baby pigeon reaches maturity in 28-28 days. Pigeons usually live for 20-30 years. Wild pigeons live for 5 years and domesticated pigeons live for 10-15 years. At the age of 5-6 months, the female lays pigeon eggs. Lays eggs on average once a month. When the child is 25/26 days old, the food is suitable. At this time, when the baby is removed, the mother pigeon prepares to lay new eggs.
