Walking the itinerary that leads to the Perito Moreno Glacier (Patagonia). [# 4] From Laguna del Toro to Paso del Viento.

One of the hiking routes that I have liked the most of the ones I have done in all my life is the one that has to be crossed to get from Calafate to Perito Moreno.

Then I was lucky enough to hike up the glacier. An indescribable situation.

But today I want to continue telling you about my experience that I divided into stages (the same stages in which we did the tour)

The first three posts were in English, which is why the last ones will be published in my native language.

The fourth stage.

We are already approaching the Glacier and more than seeing it we feel it. Higher and higher. Colder and colder.

A group photo before leaving in the early morning and a series of movements to warm up the joints. After four days of travel, fatigue is making itself felt.

The photo illustrates and graphs at the same time not only the prevailing cold, but also the wind.

The torrential waters that come from the glacier, frozen and with unprecedented violence, flow into Lake Argentino.

The estuaries of this lake are the natural habitat of a species of Patagonian bird unique in its kind and at risk of extinction: the Macá Tobiano.

The color of the waters, the leaden sky, the cold, the wind and the snow-capped mountains give a supernatural aspect to the route. We look for a shelter to protect ourselves and keep walking.

This time the route is shorter but no less demanding. We arrive at Paso del Viento, the penultimate stage.

It is redundant to try to explain the origin of his name after seeing the photographs.

We take one last look at the mountains before leaving them behind.
