Technology greatly advanced during the New Stone Age. Technology is the use of skills and tools that serve human needs. People learned new and better ways to meet their basic needs.

For example, the farmers of the New Stone Age needed storage containers for food. At first, they met their needs by weaving baskets from wild grasses. By 7000B.C., however, people were creating ways of forming clay into bowls and pots, called pottery.

It was no easy task to make good pottery. The right clay had to be found. Sticks and stones had to be removed. After the object were shaped, they had to have just the right amount of baking to make them strong. Early people must have tried and failed and tried again many times before they made good pottery. it may not seem like an important achievement, but think about how would you cook and eat without pottery.
