Title: Should we stay friends
—————————————
So me and my significant other broke up recently. We both agreed that we would move and stay as close friends. The reason for our break up was cause our love languages were too different so we knew it was time to end it. I still want to talk to her, since both of us have things that we don't trust anyone else to know. Basically both our histories are kinda fucked up, so we still find comfort making morbid jokes together. Anyways, this is my first break up so I'm slowly finding the new boundaries with her. My friends think that I should cut off all ties with her to move on, but we both agreed that we would remain friends. Plus we have a lot of mutual friends and I see her everyday in class and at work. I figure we can be mature adults and be able to hang out on our own. I've done it in the past with other female friends without a problem. They've been questioning my motives for buying food for her and stuff, but she pays me back, and I do it for all my close friends.
I guess what I'm asking is should I listen to my friends and cut all ties, or continue what I'm doing which is us talking about our lives and chilling?
I'll admit it's taking me a little longer than I thought to fully move on, but I figured that was gonna happen regardless. Plus I enjoy having someone that can finally relate to my broken past.
