Fatehpur Sikri or "City of Victory" - India - my journey through Asia The construction of the "Victory City", completed in 1586, is located about 35 kilometers from Agra.It is situated on a low hill in the Vindhya mountain range, the creator of this temple was Akbar the Mughal king. During the reign of Akbar, it was a small village inhabited by stonemasons and was the home of Sheikh Salim Chishti, a Muslim astrologer and Sufi saint. The city was then strategically located in Rajasthan, which brought Akbar and his armies closer to the Gujarat region, whose coastal cities were ideal starting points for trading with the Arab lands.
