Bell in Mingun - Myanmar - my asia trip Next to the Mingun Temple on the Irrawaddy River (Ayeyarwady) about 11 km from Mandalay, there is a giant bell in a specially built pagoda. It is the largest working bell in the world. It was cast in 1808 in bronze during the reign of King Bodawpaya. Ultimately, the bell was to be located in the unfinished Mingun Temple, which, however, fell into ruin after a powerful earthquake. The bell weighs 90 tons and is open to the public. You can even use it by hitting it with a special wooden club. The sound it makes is really powerful.
