Pigar Pigar is the most famous street food you can find in Dagupan City, Pangasinan. Along in the Galvan street are lined up stores where you can dine in or out with Pigar Pigar.

Pigar Pigar means yo mix. It is a cooked thinly sliced marinated meat of carabeef with onions.

Throughout the years some modifications are made in cooking Pigar Pigar. Some add ons can be requested while they cook your order. Beef liver, cauliflower and cabbage are just few of the choices.

I will show you the recipe on how to cook the famous Pigar Pigar of Pangasinan.

Ingredients :

500g beef thinly sliced

5 tbsp Soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon ground pepper

1/2 cup oil

I large onion, chopped

Cabbage, sliced

Here's how to do it:

  1. Marinate the beef with soy sauce and ground black pepper for at least an hour. I did mine overnight to make sure it absorbs the flavor.

  2. Heat the pan in a medium heat then add oil.

  3. When the oil is hot enough, fry the meat.

  4. Increase the heat in high flame and cook the beef by continously mixing it.

  5. When it is already cooked, transfer it in a container.

  6. In the same pan remove some oil and have some enough to stir fry the onions and cabbage.

  7. Stir fry the onions until soft the add the cabbage.

  8. When the cabbage is cooked, add the beef and mix together.

  9. The Pigar Pigar is now cooked and ready tg o serve.

Pigar Pigar is best served with vinegar and fish sauce with red chili pepper.
