The value of current science in the present day is immense. It isn't something that you can just ignore. It was the one responsible for human having advanced technology to improve and power to overcome. The benefits we get is very large but just as Roosevelt said, "With great power comes involves great responsibility".
While helpful, Science can be really destructive and could be treated as a curse due to some reason. One is it could be used to create powerful machineries enough to dominate or kill human lives. Two, wicked thoughts of those who mean harm. If we could change this beast-like minds of ours without any intention of harming others, then science could be really considered as blessing.
You can't really say that Science isn't dangerous. It could be dangerous and also NOT dangerous. The main goal of science is to discover and properly explain the world with proper explanations. Remember that weapons is the one of the product of technology, while Technology is where science is being applied. Science brought us some possibility to reduce the suffering we had in the past while some technology created suffering that we could experience in the present.
However, I cannot erase the fact that some technology really did make everything better. Agriculture, Communication, Preservation, Travelling, Medicine, etc. These are some of the products of technology that improved our lives. If we or other people stopped playing like Gods and try to think of a way to improve our society, it could possibly change everything.
Science have really been helpful but the way other people use it is a bit concerning. It has been beneficial and brought us to this state where we are today. It was able to make some impossible things to be possible and thus, improving or making a breakthrough to the development of science. Progress of human civilization would be ensure if it was used properly and if misused, then it could be our doom.
