Terra Nil - a geoengineering themed city (un)builder game
"Terra Nil is a reverse city builder about ecosystem reconstruction. Turn a barren wasteland into an ecological paradise complete with different flora and fauna. Then clean up, leaving the environment pristine. Subverting the builder genre, Terra Nil is about the restoration of a ravaged environment."
In Terra Nil, you start the game on a planet with a barren wasteland, and thru geoengineering, bring it back to life. The game starts with a basic UI/navigation tutorial.
Basing on the demo, each game level can basically be split into 3 stages, namely -
1. scrubbing and greening - soil is cleansed of toxins and transformed to a healthy topsoil capable of supporting plant life
2. ecological restoration - transforming greened areas into specialized biomes - grasslands, forests, or wetlands - for ecological balance
3. technology reclamation - all traces of technology are scrapped leaving nature undisturbed
You are given a starting amount of 'green credits' to spend, some actions will be net positive and give you more credits upon installation. Take note of this or you'll be stuck on the latter stages of the game. I got stuck on the first few plays and i had to replay the level.
Overall, i think its a nice simple puzzle game that promotes the conservation of nature and wildlife.
