I haven't played the original Sid Meier's Pirates!, so i will have no basis to compare it against that game. I did play through a text based Pirates adventure game on mobile called 'Pirates and Traders' (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.micabyte.android.pirates)

Coming from a Team17 published game, this game is easy to learn and a bit casual, every button you need to play the game is on a controller (i used as PS dual shock 4 controller for this) but i enjoyed playing thru the demo nonetheless. You can follow the missions, or do freelance jobs to grind for money and stuff. Graphics are cutesy, cartoony and i think a relatively old potato can run this game!

Art style of the characters is very similar to The Curse of the Monkey Island (aka Monkey Island 3). Voice acting would have been a nice addition though! For now, just use your imagination whenever the main characters speak, and think of the voices of Guybrush Threepwood or Elaine Marley.

Story wise (judging from the intro), nothing special. But you play this kind of freeform/exploration/trading game not for the story, but for the fun of it! Multiplayer would be a nice addition though and would give this game more replayability, similar to other Team17 published games like Overcooked or Worms.

Part 1 video will feature the intro scenes and tutorial. - https://youtu.be/Ce5Y_Y3lQP0

Part 2 video will be a 1 hour freeform/mission gameplay. (game demo is limited to a 1hr run per session) - https://youtu.be/ZLWeAlA3DR4
