Microsoft has applied for a patent for a new cryptocurrency mining system, and it is a way that would allow users to access digital currencies with the help of physical activity data. This means that the mining process will no longer require expensive equipment, provided that the method described in the patent application becomes a reality.

The patent was filed on March 26, under the title "Cryptocurrency system using body activity data", and the text shows that it is a method that requires evidence of the user's physical activity for mining. Thus, for example, brain waves or body temperature that users emit during a mining task, which they previously receive from the provider, will be used to obtain cryptocurrencies, and these are activities such as watching advertisements through specially adapted Internet services, writes Coin Telegraph.

In order for the process to begin, it is necessary for the user to receive a task that is connected to the appropriate server. A special sensor then detects the user's physical activities, and the system then assesses whether the registered activities meet the mining requirements. The system eventually rewards those users whose physical activities have met the prescribed conditions, and this one gets its share of the crypto-cake.

More and more companies are experimenting with cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, to stay one step ahead of their rivals. Thus, in the United States alone, from January 2014 to October 2019, 227 patents related to blockchain technology were received. Microsoft is also on that list, so it remains to be seen whether the method, which is somewhat reminiscent of science fiction movies, will come to life and allow miners to put their own body in the service of the crypto-future.
