In Greek mythology, the goddess of beauty and all things beautiful is Aphrodite. Why then?
Aphrodite was not actually born a beauty goddess. She had to compete with Athena and Hera to validate her beauty. She was declared "Most Beautiful" for the first time in history after she won the competition. This contest I mentioned was held on the top of Mount Ida between 3 goddesses and Prince Paris.
While the gods and goddesses were laughing and having fun at a wedding in Olympos, the only goddess who was not invited to the wedding was Eris (the goddess of discord). Offended, the goddess finds a way to sneak into the wedding and throws the gift that will ruin the wedding on the table. When all the gods and goddesses are at the table, a golden apple falls on the table in a zigzag shape. They turn it over and see that it has "The Most Beautiful" written on it. All 3 goddesses want to take the apple. They consult the chief god Zeus to give the apple to the one who deserves it.
Athens is the daughter of Zeus. Hera is his wife. Aphrodite, one of the first gods of the upper generation, is an important character who amazes everyone by coming ashore with foam from the pieces of Uranus that fell into the sea. Considering she is older than Zeus, Zeus cannot exclude Aphrodite from her respect for elders.
Having trouble making a decision, Zeus tells the goddesses that there is a shepherd named Paris on the top of Mount Ida and he will make the right decision. The inevitable fate of Prince Paris and poor Troy is thus determined.
Our goddesses descend to Idaya, find Paris. They ask Paris, who is the most beautiful? Not knowing what to do with fear, the Little Prince could not answer at first. Imagine they are gods. One small mistake will turn you into dust. Also, all three women are very beautiful. So Paris wakes up and tells her that she will choose the one that promises her the best.
Hera promises him that "he will have a happy family in the most beautiful kingdom in the world and will also become a ruler".
Athena makes a promise that "as the bravest and most accomplished warrior in the world, her name shall live forever in glory and not be defeated."
Aphrodite promises to "have the most beautiful woman in the world". A very excited young man, Paris gives the apple to Afrofit and Aphrodite becomes the "Most Beautiful" in the universe.
Everything is fine so far, but the story does not end there. Hera and Athena vow to take revenge on Paris.
Paris is actually the prince of the legendary city of Troy. While Paris is in her mother's womb, her mother is writhing in nightmares. They share these nightmares with the seers and say that the child to be born will be the end of Troy and they must get rid of it as soon as possible. This child is so beautiful when he is born that they cannot kill him.
King Priam (Paris' father) leaves him to his fate in the mountains. A shepherd finds the boy and, impressed by his beauty, adopts him, and the boy grows up as a shepherd's son on Mount Ida. However, fate is a phenomenon in Greek mythology that even the gods cannot change.
One day, Paris sees the goddesses, gives the apple to Aphrodite, and the curse of Troy is activated again. And Paris begins to search for this promised beauty...
