Almost everyone born in the early 21st century feels something is missing in his life. They feel that they cannot live without recognition from society. They feel that they cannot be happy if they don't have a lot of money to buy things. This kind of feeling of lacking haunts so many people, for most of their lives.
People call it various words. Some say they are looking for happiness. Some say they are looking for meaning in their lives. Some say they are experiencing a life purpose crisis. All point to one state, namely the feeling of lack that lies in the mind. They then look for a way, to fill the inner void. They also looked beyond him. Drugs, sex, religion, mysticism, and consumerism are alternatives. However, all of them still cannot fill the existing inner emptiness. Suffering continues.
In the process of searching, when things get too complicated, they don't hesitate to hurt others. To maintain a consumptive lifestyle, as an escape from a perceived inner emptiness, people are willing to corrupt. People are willing to kill other people so that they can feel temporary satisfaction. The world too is filled with people who suffer mentally and then hurt one another.
This is what is currently happening in the world. Russia thought that they would become a great nation when they controlled Ukraine or even controlled various satellite countries of the former Soviet Union in the past. ISIS thought that they could found a medieval model empire if they continued to torture and kill innocent people. All live in the fundamental misconception that they can find fulfillment in life by seeking fulfillment from things outside of themselves.
