Ecological Determinism

Ecological determinism is the concept which explains that '' your ecology determines your culture''. Ecology is the foundation of biosphere and it includes bio -tic and abiotic elements of environment. In one line we can say that our surroundings defines the line of culture.

Here we can raise question that what is actually culture?

Today i was taking anthropology class and professor gave different definitions of culture.I will add those all definitions here, ''what we added up in the nature is known as culture''

Nature is simple and complex at the same time and it's humans who made this simple and complex according the perception he/she got. We humans added and introduced terms like traditions,values,customs and other inter-related concepts and we made them ''way of living''.

Second definition i quoted from today's lecture is '' Culture is the way of thinking and behavior and it always carry an ideology''

Culture sums up the practices of life and it is wholesome of societal life.Culture comprises of our education system,belief system,political system,art and whatever we do.

Culture is a long debate, infact my previous article was also about the culture and dominant ideology but here my point of view is mingling both concepts culture and ideology that it does not mean that culture is floating in the society only due ancestor but it also carry an ideology. Though we cannot deny that culture is coming from ancestors to their off springs.

Basically, my talk was about ecological determinism that our surrounding defines the culture. The country in which we live we attain all those cultural values and we color our personalities according to the society in which we are living.Like there are some countries where hand shaking is symbol of greeting although it is according to religion but it also comes under the cultural value. Also,there are some countries where one person has to bow down for greeting and it is also the part of culture.

All in all, Discussion was about culture. Our way of life, Dressing, talking, thinking behavior and everything comes under the umbrella term ''culture''.
