The Twist in Underestimating Zero: A Short Film Analysis
The film was about a boy who was born in a world who judges people in accordance with the number they are also born with from zero until infinity which is the largest and most respectable number. As the title of the film 'Zero' conveys, that boy was sealed with zero which made him experience inequality and persecutions. Their denomination was even forbidden to multiply.
Until one day, he met a girl of his kind on an unpleasant situation. The girl was being bullied by three larger numbers whom he saved by being the one the bullies have beaten instead. As the days passed by with them together, he felt the sense of belonging and as valuable as a three or even a four.
However, he was imprisoned for having an intimate connection with the girl that made him question his self how to continue life without his love. The day came when the girl visited her and showed him that she is pregnant. People saw it and started to criticize her until she gave birth and witnessed that there are two babies sealed with infinity. Larger numbers showed their deepest respect with the two zeros. As a result, the film ended with his realization that nothing can be truly something through love, courage, and determination.
My Perspective
This short film is one of a kind as it is extremely realistic for me in relation of before and today's world. Everyone is not born equal indeed, even though we are all born in the same matter and equally molded by God. Some have opened their eyes in a wealthy life while life to some is a constant battle offering zero opportunities. There are those who are living with disabilities which limit them to live a normal life that mostly are happily embracing. Like the boy and girl with zero seals in the film, they experienced discriminations. Wherever they go, insulting looks are evident that served as the barriers to boost their self-esteem. They are mocked because of their unusual uniqueness.
What also differs today is that there are naturally and gradually kind-hearted ones who make them feel special despite some hindrances that urges them not to. We also have some laws that protect them from any harm such as Republic Act No 7277 namely Magna Carta for Disabled Persons. I think, inequality happens because of how the parents handled them and how they are living their life. We can still create a great change despite our limitations.
There are some person with disabilities who never let such limitations stop them from shining among the normal ones and even became the inspiration that we once thought is impossible like Zero. Being a leader doesn't mean how perfectly shaped he or she is. There are those who are really born as true leaders but never realize it because of the negativities that stopped them from discovering. They are meant to make a great change and a legacy that people will never forget. As such, Nick Vujicic is a world-famous celebrity who was born in 1982 with no limbs. He admitted that ridicule and discrimination in his childhood lit his idea to commit a suicide.
What the boy missed at first is his purpose. He defined his value by how other larger numbers see him. Well, I can't blame him for being born in a judgmental world. It would definitely turn me down if I were in his position too. Yet, the courage, love, and determination that slowly prevailed led him to his real destination and amazed me to the fullest. Becoming an adult have helped him to never allow bad situations to happen which is right.
Like the fighter Nick Vujicic I've mentioned above, time helped him to show off and live without minding pessimism. We must focus on what makes us truly happy and value it no matter what comes along the way. The film also showed that whatever it is that you are really born to, you truly will become because you naturally are.
Thanks. Owe you big time! ♡

This is a very touching movie. It shows a lot of things that is currently wrong with the society. Discrimination in any form is wrong.
