We've all known sports as any competitive physical activities may these be indoor or outdoor ones. Throughout my journey in elementary and high school years, I've learned that they are absolutely efficient in improving and maintaining our physical skills and abilities as we are harnessed while having fun and satisfaction at the same time. I've really enjoyed those times remarkably while still being healthy. What amazes me more is that it didn't just stop from these amazing aspects. Sport for Development and Peace expanded its capabilities by uplifting a beautiful hope rising especially for the young ones making this world a better place, the Sustainable Development Goals.

Objectively, everyone is not born equal indeed even in pursuing and battling life with various opportunities. Numerous are experiencing extreme poverty while others are living life happily and comfortably. Some are struggling with discriminations as there are those who are living with disabilities which limit them to live a normal life that mostly are evidently embracing. No country is excluded with these difficulties. Thus, these were one of those alarming circumstances that compelled United Nations Development Programme to come up with the 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development. To eradicate such and hopefully not leave any one behind creating a progress in each country.

With that, Sport for Development and Peace didn't dare to miss the opportunity in maximizing sports' contribution. One of its vital role in this amazing global plan of action is enhancing the assurance of healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Regular sport itself can provide health benefits like the improvement of lung function and efficiency because more oxygen will be drawn into the body while carbon monoxide and waste gases are being expelled. Aside from that, social benefits such developing stronger relationships are included. We got to know people personally and be aware of their strengths and weaknesses. Healthy lifestyle choices are instilled among children and young people by remaining active physically, mentally and emotionally as well as in combating non-communicable diseases.

Depressions and anxiety are also evident and inevitable nowadays. Some are caused by life events such as work stress and non-stop discriminations, or even personal factors such as family history and serious medical illnesses. Physical activities are very helpful in treating these struggles as we are able to release feel-good endorphins, natural cannabis-like brain chemicals and others that can really improve our sense of well-being. Some simple examples are doing yoga, taking long walks, swimming, dancing, and running. Whenever I'm under stress, I usually take a break and do some physical activities to release it and calm my mind. It is really efficient that I'm always motivated then to continue life.

Well, by looking at how the United Nations and Sport for Development and Peace have exerted greater effort in making our world a better place made me hopeful this time. I thought that we'll always be this way and future generations are just gonna make it worse. Yet, I was wrong because we can still do something after all in unity by using what we have like the sports that we have. The other goals that UN wanted to achieve by 2030 are to end all kinds of poverty everywhere, end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture, equal education and life-long learning opportunities, gender equality, empowering women, sustainability and availability of water as well as economic growth, build infrastructures that are resilient, reduce inequality all over the world, and my more. I am hoping that we will achieve them no matter what it takes.

El deporte es una de las grandes bendiciones que tenemos en la vida, a través de él podemos ciertamente mejorar nuestra salud, despojarnos del estrés del día a día además de poder conocer y relacionarnos con otras personas.

Una sociedad, un pais que decida incluir el deporte como herramienta para reimpulsar la calidad de vida de sus habitantes sin dudas va por muy buen camino y no tardará mucho tiempo en obtener resultados serán óptimos.
