Descriptive Statistics Journey
STAT 111
"Every data has a story to tell."
It was quoted by our professor that captured me the most and stole a place in my heart during our first ever online class in Descriptive Statistics. Indeed, behind each of it are the veiled happiness, pain, and sadness that everyone must be aware of in order to lend those people some help and learn from each other as we survive in this complex world. The moment I was slapped with the reality, I felt more the need to be part of telling those stories which made me feel an indescribable excitement despite the possibilities of it to be an extreme roller coaster ride.
Throughout, I've ventured a lot of things as a freshman in my university. Online class was new to me, thus, embracing some adjustments was undeniably necessary which is a bit hard given that the environment is not suited. There's sadly a great difference compared to the normal one. However, through God's grace, I was able to adapt and make use of what's only available. A schedule of 7:30 am in the morning was somehow challenging as well, as it helped us discipline ourselves more to wake up early in the morning like the usual to prepare for school.
On the other hand, I also met those previous learnings along the way which were amazingly stabilized and deepened. I never thought there is much statistical tools out there that are absolutely efficient and helpful. Thanks to our humble professor for being an instrument for us to understand deeper the use and importance of those. Well, I can say that was a great journey. The class was split up into groups where we found the people whom we can work with and build teamwork. There are also individual works that are challenging and helped us teach ourselves to do more and reflect more.
LEARNING EVIDENCE
Along every journeys, there is none which a traveler can survive with all his or her strength alone. There are people who are always part of it including the ones who encourage the traveler to strive and continue throughout the victory. As our class was split into groups, we were always challenged by the group activities that needed connection and cooperation in order to succeed. Thus, I can say that the most challenging one is our project milestone because we have to apply gradually all the lessons taught to us in the whole semester.
This project taught me something that I must never forget. It is to exert more love encompassing patience and effort to a valuable thing that does not only benefit you but to numerous of people as well. Conducting a study, as I have experienced during my high school years, is never easy. Thanks to my group mates because we were able to push ours until the end. Choosing the methods challenged us because there are those close to the appropriate one, as well as in planning the procedure. There are some respondents along that were chosen through lottery method who never answered the survey given to them for us to gather the needed data. It took us days to complete it so we can provide a data in our study that are truly accurate and reliable for the readers. Well, we can't force them to that's why I am forever thankful to those respondents who lend their priceless time in answering our survey.
In addition, interpreting the result was honestly frustrating because we really wanted to get what's right. Yet, I can say it is also undeniably fun because you know what you're doing and that I was interacting with a large data. Microsoft Excel has been a great help to us, guiding, most especially our data wasn't that small. It helped us make the work easier and convenient. Doing such project as a group is advantageous as well because we were able to teach and learn from each other. Whatever the others are totally confused with, the other one who understands enough can explain and correct which one has done wrong.
Lastly, I can say I gained much that are strongly beneficial for my next journey. These have molded me more to be a tougher person in achieving this career I chose and tell those valuable stories to everyone. There may be stumbling blocks along the way, but, I will face it bravely and confidently with those extraordinary lessons I gained in my Descriptive Statistics journey.
Ps. Just found it on my files last sem. Still don't have the motivation to write huhu.
Thanks. Owe you big time! β‘
