Are You A Cyborg?
As people are becoming wiser, the world is becoming more advanced too.
The social world as well is becoming bigger and almost everyone is engaging theirselves with social media platforms. Internet added the three domains of social world which includes our family, school and neighborhood where the identities of the people are evidently diverse. Mostly used internet as self-representation and impression management. Some are becoming more toxic and the attitudes they are posing are not appropriate anymore.
What is Self-Representation?
Self-representation is how we are able to present ourselves online in a way that we want to. Thus, not everything you see is the wholeness and valid truth as people show theirselves in their own ways no matter how wrong they are. It is important to avoid judging easily online without confirming the reliability of the source. Just as me, I've always wanted to embrace a positive response in using social media specifically Facebook. I always choose the best and appropriate picture nor videos to post.
I don't like going with the flow on what's trending for the meantime or even involve myself in exposing too much of my thoughts toxically towards controversial issues that are happening in the government or our environment. I just wanted to spread positivity and encouragement to my friends online who are for sure dealing with hard times like me. With this, I try hard to limit myself in expressing all of my anger towards a certain person or situation through posts. "Think before you click." It is better to settle it in person than posting parallel to such because it will only make the situation worse.
What is Impression Management?
Impression management, in comparison, is when we try to influence other people's perception by ours. This is because we basically want to increase our self-esteem and control one's behavior or identity. The kinds of people we interact online are the people we do not know at all, we know both online and offline, and lastly those we know only online. Nowadays, it is evident most especially in Twitter and Facebook how people are very eager and somewhat aggressive in defending their own candidates for the president of our country. They're already on a point that they involve each of their personal lives, losing the peace and respect to each other that must essentially prevail. Like hello, it is our Philippines who needs to be defended. Not those candidates whom we must scrutinize and reject as we discover their real purpose in the first place. Do not target each other's weaknesses or shortcomings and intimidate.
Well, that is our digital self.
We cannot easily say that he or she is genuine or not without considering a lot of factors. Yet, online users will only know what you show them. Our digital self is oriented inward, narrative in nature, retractable and multiplicable. Moreover, online interaction has been creating a great impact to us and affects our day to day living. Social media addiction is my best example as I can totally relate to it most especially during my first involvement. I keep on watching videos and communicating numerous of people including those I know personally. That was before. I don't entertain strangers anymore unless they introduce their self to me as well as their purpose on reaching me out. Today, it is still one of those hindrances why I can't manage my time well.
Online world is a great world to engage ourselves in. We can easily communicate to our love ones and learn a lot of things that we can't easily venture personally. Thus, we must use different platforms wisely and avoid making such amazing community be corrupted with our immaturity.

Online world has made some people lazier and I admit that because of it, I sometimes just sit in a chair while browsing social media - something I want to change and hopefully, I'll be able to change this lifestyle.
