Animes, comics, mangas, games and movies have their own fans and followings. They have burning passion on the medium and it's genres that encompasses them. And with that, those with bold courage and confidence rise up, take the scissors and other materials, make costumes and strut their way to conferences and other exhibition to showcase their love of the medium they represent. This is Cosplay.
Cosplaying, or costume play, has been part of the human civilization for many years now. Playing as heroes or gods that their culture have. Nowadays, it is more commonly associated with fans of anime, movies, games or just any medium.
As shown in the picture, taken at Comiket (Comics Market) '84, shows how prevalent cosplaying is. It is an escape to reality, a way to embody the character they love. A temporary mask to weakness by wearing the strong character.
I have been to several anime conventions and those were unforgettable times, it allowed me to experience things that seemed out of this world. Like I am living in an Isekai, or other world. It is truly a bliss when you are there.
