Hello friend of ReadCash and Splinterlands players,

the protagonist of this post is the Stonesplitter Orc card, which is also the protagonist of this week's Splinterlands "Share Your Battle" contest.

There are lots of fun contests to enter on Hive, but the Share Your Battle contest is one of my favourites.

The reason I like this contest is simple: in order to participate I have to share a battle and therefore I have to share a game action.

I play and therefore have fun, I write about a game that I enjoy and I get rewarded. For me, that's really a great thing!

The topics I'll be covering in this post are as follows:

Topics

- Card: Stonesplitter Orc.

- Description, Stats and Abilities.

- Cost, Levels and Valuation

- Level Considerations

- My battle with Stonesplitter Orc

- My battle formation.

- Battle Considerations

- Final Considerations for Stonesplitter Orc.

Card: Stonesplitter Orc

Description, Stats and Abilities

Stonesplitter Orc is a card that is part of two different collections: Alpha and Beta.

It is a Rare card and is a card of the element Nature.

Stonesplitter Orc of level 1 has the following stats:

- It has a medium mana cost (6).

- Has 3 melee attack points.

- Has 4 life points and 1 armor point.

- Has an average speed value (3)

- Stonesplitter Orc level 1 has a ability: Retaliate.

The Retaliate ability allows Stonesplitter Orc to have a chance to counterattack the opponent's card with a melee attack that hit it.

When it reaches level 5, it acquires a second ability: Enrage.

Cards that have the Enrage ability increase attack points and speed points when they take damage.

Cost, Levels and Valuation

The lowest cost of Stonesplitter Orc (Level 1) - Alpha Collection on the market is $0.36 (February 23, 2021)

In the following image you can see the complete statistics

The lowest cost of Grim Reaper (Level 1) - Beta Collection on the market is $0.13 (Feb 23, 2021)

Considerations on levels

Level 3

Level 3 is the first interesting level to upgrade Stonesplitter Orc to because it is the level where Stonesplitter Orc increases a unit's attack points (3->4) compared to levels 1 and 2, and increases a unit's life points (4->5) compared to level 1.

To reach level 3 you need:

- 4 cards to combine for the Alpha edition and the total cost is $1.44.

- 5 cards to combine for the Beta edition and the total cost is 0.65 $.

Level 6

Level 6 is the level that, in my opinion, has the best benefit/price ratio!

When Stonesplitter Orc reaches level 6 it gains its second and final ability (Enrage) and, compared to level 3:

- Increases the speed points of a unit (3->4)

- Increases armour points (1->2)

- Increases attack points (4->5)

To upgrade Stonesplitter Orc to 6th level you need:

- 26 cards to combine for the Alpha edition and the best price on the market is $6.93.

This cost is obtained by the combination of Stonesplitter Orc level 4 (cost 3.33$) + 10 Stonesplitter Orc level 1 cards (cost per card: 0.36$)

- 35 cards to combine for the Beta edition and the best price on the market is $3.99.

Max level (Level 8)

To reach the maximum level (8) achievable by Stonesplitter you need:

- 86 cards to combine for the Alpha edition and the cheapest cost on the market is 20,34 $.

- 115 cards to combine for the Beta edition and the best price on the market is 12,49 $.

My advice, especially for those who have a not very large collection of cards, is to upgrade Stonesplitter Orc to level 6 at the most because spending at least 8 dollars more to have 2 more life points and 1 more armour point than level 6 is not a very reasonable choice because it is important to first expand your card collection to have more strategic choices and only then max the cards in your collection.

Now let's see how Stonesplitter Orc behaves on the Battlefield

A battle of mine with Stonesplitter Orc

If you want to watch the battle, you can do so from this link:

https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=05fc8e076fb5e49b1a610fd277789c69b42b9b9f&ref=libertycrypto27

In the battle of this post I had the following conditions to respect:

- Armored Up: All cards deployed in battle gain two additional armor points.

- Melee Mayhem: Cards with melee attacks can attack from all positions.

- Mana Cap: 27.

- Useable Summoners: Only summoners of the elements can be used: Fire, Dragon, Life and Earth.

My Battle Formation

The maximum number of cards that can be deployed in battle is 7 (1 Summoner + 6 monsters)
.

I chose to deploy 6 cards (in order of position):

Flesh Golem - Stonesplitter Orc - Brownie - Khmer Princess - Screeching Vulture - Tortisian Chief

Daria Dragonscale (Summoner)

I chose this battle because Armored Up and Melee Mayhem are two combat rules favorable to using the Stonesplitter Orc card in battle.

In fact, Stonesplitter Orc's weakness is that it only has 4 life and it's not a card that can be deployed in first position.

Since Stonesplitter Orc can only attack from the first position, it will rarely be used in battle.

When the battle rule is specifically Melee Mayhem Stonesplitter Orc can attack from any position and can be deployed in a more protected position than the first position, which is the most attacked position.

First position: I have deployed Flesh Golem (level 4) in the first position because it has a good starting attack of 3 points, has 9 life points that guarantee a good level of survival in battle and has the ability Heal that guarantees a recovery of 2 life points every round of play.

Thanks to the combined use with Brownie and Daria Dragonscale his attack increases by 2 nits (3->5).

Second position: In second position I have deployed the protagonist of this post: Stonesplitter Orc (level 1).

A card that I don't use much for the reasons I explained above but that can be very useful in battles that have precise combat rules.

I chose the second position because it provides a little more protection than the first.

Third position: For the third position I chose the card Brownie (level 4).

Brownie is a card that I like a lot because it has two very good abilities and a very low mana cost (1). Thanks to the Inspire ability, all my melee cards get an additional attack point.

Fourth position: In fourth position I have the card Khmer Princess (level 4).

Khmer Princess is like Brownie a very useful card because when she reaches level 4 she gains the Heal ability which is a very useful ability in battle. Its cost of only 2 Mana makes it a must-have card in any self-respecting card collection.

Fifth position: In fifth position I have deployed Screeching Vulture (level 6).

It has three abilities: Flyng, Scavenger and Opportunity.

A very useful card that I use a lot.

It only costs 3 mana and thanks to the Scavenger ability it gets an extra life point every time a friend or opponent card is eliminated.

Sixth position: In last position I have Tortisian Chief (Level 4).

This is a very useful card that I recently bought and upgraded.

It is the only neutral card that has the Tank Heal ability.

Thanks to Tortisian Chief's Tank Heal ability, my Flesh Golem is more likely to resist attacks from opposing cards.

I usually put Tortisian Chief in second to last position, but in the battle of this post it is the card with the most life points (5) excluding Flesh Golem.

As a summoner, I chose Daria Dragonscale (level 4) who, thanks to her ability, allows me to increase the attack of my melee cards by one point.

Battle Considerations

Generally for the Share Your Battle contest I choose balanced battles and in fact in this battle there is an initial balance:

- my opponent has a higher total life + armour points than my battle formation (50 vs 38)

- I have a higher total of attack points than my opponent's battle formation (20 vs 11).

From a strategic point of view, my opponent has a balanced formation: 1 card with a magic attack, 2 cards with a ranged attack and 3 cards with a melee attack.

I decide to bet on cards with melee attack: 4 cards with melee attack and 2 cards with magic attack.

During Round 1 no cards are eliminated, although at the beginning of Round 2 I lose my first card: Khmer Princess.

During Round 2 my opponent loses his first card and his Brownie.

At the start of Round 3 I have one more card than my opponent and I have reduced my disadvantage relative to total life plus armour points (29 vs 27).

I have increased my advantage relative to attack points (16 vs 7).

By now my advantage is big and the battle ends on the 4th turn of Round 6 with my victory.

Final considerations on Stonesplitter Orc

Stonesplitter Orc is a card that has good abilities but it's a card that can't be used all the time and is only useful in battles that have specific combat rules.

In my opinion, there are three main rules of battle that are favorable to using the Stonesplitter Orc card in battle:

- Melee Mayem

- Super Sneak

- Equal Opportunity

The situation is even more favourable for Stonesplitter Orc if one of the three rules listed above is also combined with one of the following battle rules:

- Equalizer

- Lost Magic

- Armored Up

With this post I participate in the weekly Splinterlands contest entitled "Share Your Battle".
