I play several blockchain-based games but out of all of them Splinterlands is the game that offers the most earning possibilities to its players.
There are rewards that are strictly related to the game and there are rewards that are instead related to the activity of publishing content related to the Splinterlands game.
The in-game rewards
The player who plays on the Splinterlands website can earn:
- token DEC for each battle victory or prize placement in a tournament.
- token SPS from the airdrop in progress
- chests that can contain token DEC, cards (NFT) and potions.
Chests are obtained from completing daily missions and as an end-of-season reward (every 15 days)
Rewards for blogging on Hive
In addition to in-game rewards Splinterlands rewards players who post Splinterlands game-related content on the Hive blockchain.
In fact, those who publish a post about Splinterlands on Hive can get the following two rewards:
- maximum 2 upvotes per week from the @steemmonsters account.
Each week the @splinterlands account runs weekly contests that require:
- the writing and publication of a post on Hive related to Splinterlands
- Subsequent sharing of the post on Hive on any social network other than Hive.
- a quantity of SPT tokens.
If you don't know what SPT tokens are, I'll explain in brief what they are.
SPT tokens
SPT tokens are second layer tokens of the Hive blockchain and are the Splintertalk community tokens.
They are tokens created by the @splinterlands account (on Hive Blockchain) and are tokens related to the activity of publishing posts on Hive that:
- have as a topic Splinterlands
- have as tags: splinterlands and/or spt.
Whenever you publish a post whose topic is the Splinterlands game and you use the tags spt and/or splinterlands your post will be visible on Hive but it will also be visible within the Splintertalk community at the following address: https://www.splintertalk.io/
The interface of https://www.splintertalk.io/ is very similar to the interface of https://hive.blog/ but there are some differences.
On https://hive.blog/ (as well as https://peakd.com/ or https://ecency.com/) all posts published on the Hive blockchain are displayed and the reward of a post is visualized in $(HTU).
On https://www.splintertalk.io/, only a subset of posts published on the Hive blockchain are displayed: posts that have one or both of the splinterlands and spt tags.
On Splintertalk, post rewards are only displayed in terms of SPT tokens.
For example, the post about Splinterlands that I wrote and published yesterday is viewable on https://peakd.com/ (as well as on https://hive.blog/ or https://ecency.com/) where it got a reward of $16.31(HTU).
Since I used the splinterlands tag my post is also viewable within the https://www.splintertalk.io/ community and the reward I've gotten so far is 263.14 SPT tokens.
The mechanism for dividing SPT tokens between the author of the post and the curator of the post (the one who votes on the post) is 50%/50% respectively (exactly like on Hive), and so if no other Hive user votes on my post, after seven days from the publication of my post I will receive 131.57 SPT tokens (263.14/2).
If you are a Splinterlands player like me who, in addition to playing games, also publishes content related to the game of Splintelands, I recommend you to stake your SPT tokens on Hive Engine because the more tokens you accumulate and stake on HiveEngine/LeoDex/TribalDex, the more your SPT Power will increase and consequently you will earn more SPT tokens every time you vote a post with the tag splinterlands and/or spt.
The value of SPT tokens
Generally, adding a use case to a token produces an increase in the value of the token.
The airdrop of SPS tokens has produced an increase of the value of SPT tokens because each SPT token has the value of 0.25 points for the purposes of the current airdrop.
The last time I checked the value of SPT tokens was July 24, 2021 and 1 SPT token was worth 0.00350 HIVE (Highest BID) while a month earlier (June 19, 2021) an SPT token was only worth 0.00074 HIVE (Highest Bid).
In the period between June 19 and July 24, 2021 the value of 1 SPT token had increased by 372.97%.
Today August 27, 2021 the value of 1 SPT token is even higher and is 0.00900 HIVE.
In just over a month, the value of SPT tokens has increased by 157.14%.

My Road to 1 million SPT tokens
I earned my first SPT tokens on October 25, 2019 and to date I have never sold a single SPT token and I won't be selling them in the next days either because I have a specific goal to reach:
1 million SPT tokens
To reach more easily my goal I created a secondary account, a curation account that I called @libertygame27
With my main account I follow many authors whose posts cover different topics and consequently also have different tags.
My secondary account @libertygame27 I don't use to publish content but I use it to optimize the accumulation of SPT tokens and its main function is to vote only posts that have the splinterlands tag and/or the spt tag.
This way I don't waste my voting power relative to SPT tokens: my SPT POWER.
July 24, 2021 is the last day I checked libertygame27's wallet.
A month ago, I had accumulated a total of 516515 SPT tokens (tokens received in delegation from my main account + tokens placed in stakes).
The total amount of SPT tokens I have today is 549551 units.
In just over a month (33 days) I have increased the amount of SPT tokens in my possession by 33036 units with a percentage increase of +6.40%.
The average daily gain was 1001 SPT tokens.
To reach my goal of 1 million SPT tokens I still have 450449 SPT tokens left to go.
If I maintain the same rate of daily increment that I have achieved over the past 33 days I should reach my goal in approximately 450 days (450449 / 1001) = 449.99 days).
Splinterlands = Play 2 Earn!
