NAGA WARRIOR: Market, Battle Strategy and Considerations
Hi Hivers and Splinterlands players,
Every week Splinterlands organizes contests to reward their players.
One of the weekly contests is the "Share Your Battle" contest, which requires you to share a battle with a particular card, and this week's contest features the Naga Warrior card.
Since I became a Splinterlands player I have almost always participated in the Share Your Battle contest: in 18 months I will have missed a maximum of 5 participations.
I should have skipped this one as well because I don't have a Naga Warrior card in my card collection but not having a card is no problem at all because there is the very useful website https://peakmonsters.com/ that allows you to rent Splinterlands cards.
So I rented a level 1 Naga Warrior for $0.001.
I chose a rental contract without penalty in case of early termination of the contract (Termination Escrow = 0) and after using the card I terminated the rental contract.
The topics that I will cover in this post are as follows:
Topics
- Card: Naga Warrior
- Description, Stats and Abilities.
- Market, Levels and Ratings
- Level Considerations
- My battle with Naga Warrior.
- My battle formation
- Battle Considerations
- Final Considerations on Naga Warrior
Card: Naga Warrior
Description, Stats and Abilities
Naga Warrior is a card that is part of two collections: Alpha and Beta and is available in two versions: Regular and Gold.
It is an Epic card and a card of the element Water.
Naga Warrior (regular version) of level 1 has the following stats:
- It has a mana cost of 5 points.
- Has a melee attack point of 2.
- Has 6 life points and has no armor points.
- Has a mid-level speed (3).
- Has an ability: Retaliate.
Thanks to the Retaliate ability, the Naga Warrior card has a chance to counterattack the enemy card with a melee attack from which it was attacked.
When Naga Warrior reaches level 4, it gains its second and final ability: Enrage.
The Enrage ability activates when Naga Warrior takes damage in battle and produces an increase in melee attack points and an increase in speed points.
Market, Levels and Valuation
Each card in the Splinterland game is present in two versions: Regular and Gold.
Some cards like Naga Warrior also exist in two different collections: Alpha and Beta and so there are a total of 4 Naga Warrior cards that differ in:
- cost
- starting level (the gold version starts at level 2)
- number of cards needed to increase the level
- number of cards in circulation.
The lowest cost of Naga Warrior (Level 1) - Regular version Beta Collection on the market is 4.00 $ (April 12, 2021)
In the following image you can see the complete statistics
The cost of Naga Warrior - Gold version Beta Collection (starting level is level 3) lowest on the market is 19.00 $ (12 April 2021)
In the following image you can see the complete statistics
The lowest cost of Naga Warrior (Level 1) - Regular version Alpha Collection on the market is 4.25 $ (12 April 2021)
In the following image you can see the complete statistics
The cost of Naga Warrior - Gold version Alpha Collection (starting level is level 3) lowest on the market is 220.00 $ (12 April 2021)

Is Naga Warrior a good buy?
Considering the current price on the market, Naga Warrior is a card that costs too much in relation to its battle statistics, which is why I don't recommend buying it.
The high cost is the main reason why I have never considered it as a possible purchase to add to my collection.
There are cards that I think are more usable in battles and cost much less.
In the image below you can see some water element cards that cost less than Naga Warrior and have similar battle stats and more useful abilities.
For example Electric Eels has two life points and one attack point less than Naga Warrior but:
- can also attack from the second position
- can attack from two to three cards at the same time thanks to the Blast ability.
- costs almost $7 less.
Now let's see how Naga Warrior behaves on the Battlefield!
A battle of mine with Naga Warrior

In the battle of this post I had the following conditions to meet:
- Healed Out: All cards with Heal or Tank Heal abilities lose their valuable healing ability.
- Mana Cap: 18.
- Useable Summoners: Only summoners of the following elements can be used: Life, Death, and Earth and Water.
My Battle Formation
The maximum number of cards that can be deployed in battle is 7 (1 summoner + 6 monsters)
I chose to deploy 5 monster cards (in order of position):
Naga Warrior - Furious Chicken - Creeping Ooze - Ruler of the Seas - Crustacean King
Alric Stormbringher (Summoner)
First Position: For the first position I chose to deploy Naga Warrior (level 1), the protagonist of this post, because it is the only position that allows Naga Warrior to attack.
Naga Warrior level 1 is not the ideal card to use in the first position because it only has 6 life points and only 2 melee attack points.
In order to protect Naga Warrior, I have chosen to use Crustaceand King, whose protect ability gives Naga Warrior a bonus of 2 armour points.
Second position: In second position I have deployed Furious Chicken (Gold - level 3).
Furious Chicken is always a useful card to deploy as protection for important cards and in fact its function is to protect Ruler of the Seas (level 3) which is the strongest card in my battle formation.
Third position: In third position I have deployed the card Creeping Ooze (level 4) which has the same main function as Furious Chicken: to protect Ruler of the Seas from the attacks of the opponent's cards.
Creeping Ooze also has a second use because it can decrease the speed of the opponent's cards by one unit (Slow ability).
Fourth position: In fourth position I put Ruler of the Seas (level 3).
Ruler of the Seas is one of my favorite water element cards.
It has three great abilities: Blast, Swiftness, and Silence.
It's the card I always try to protect because it has a three point magic attack (which becomes four when combined with Alric Stormbringher and thanks to its Blast ability it can attack and subtract two points from the card adjacent to the directly attacked card.
Fifth position: In fifth position I chose to deploy Crustacean King (level 6) that even if in the battle of this post loses the Tank Heal ability has another useful ability (Protect) that allows to add two armour points to itself and to all the friendly cards.
As Summoner I chose Alric Stormbringher (level 5) because among my water element summoners it' s the one that allows me to use the highest level cards and above all it allows me to increase the magic attack of the cards deployed in battle.
Battle Considerations
The battle starts with a substantial initial balance.
In fact, in this battle, I start with a slight advantage in life + armour points while my opponent starts the battle with an advantage in total attack points:
- my opponent has a higher total attack points than me (12 vs 9).
- I have a total of life + armour points equal to 27 points while my opponent has a total of life + armour points of 24 points.
From a strategic point of view my opponent decides to bet more on cards with melee attack (4 cards out of 5).
I instead decide to bet on the strength of Ruler of the Seas which is the card that I hope will win the battle.
During Round 1 my opponent loses Furious Chicken while I lose Crustacean King and with its elimination I also lose 6 armour points.
During Round 2 my opponent loses his second card and at the start of Round 3 he is left with only two cards.
The battle ends on the seventh turn of Round 4 when both my opponent and I are left with one card each and Ruler of the Seas strikes the final blow.
Final Considerations on Naga Warrior
Naga Warrior is a useful card only when the battle rules allow it to be deployed in a position other than the first.
For example, when the battle rule is Super Sneak or Melee Mayhem, Naga Warrior is a good choice because it only costs 5 mana points and can attack from any position. In all other circumstances it's not a very useful card and there are many other alternatives that are more useful in battle and, more importantly, cost much less.
I prefer abilities like Stun and Heal for a card to be deployed in first position over the Retaliate ability. In fact, in the battle of this post Naga Warrior can't even use its ability once even though it attacks 3 times.
In my opinion, the combat rules that favour the use of the Sporcerer card in battle are mainly:
- Melee Mayhem and Super Sneak: Naga Warrior can attack from any position.
- Armored Up: Two more armor points make up for the low life points
- Lost Legendaries: without the ability to field legendary cards, epic cards gain value and become a viable choice.
- Equalizer: Naga Warrior level 1 will most likely gain more life points.
In conclusion Naga Warrior is a good card to have in your card collection but not at the current market prices.
