• *এই যে এতদিন জাহাজে করে খালি নীল পানিতে ভেসে চলেন, বোরিং লাগেনা?
• -একটা সময় ছিল যখন জাহাজিরা মাঝ দরিয়ায় পুরো দুনিয়া থেকেই বিচ্ছিন্ন থাকতো। দিনের পর দিন, মাসের পর মাস নীল পানি দেখেই সময় কাটাতো। যদিও বিনোদনের সম্ভাব্য সকল জিনিসই জাহাজে থাকতো। টিভি, ভিসিআর, সিডি-ডিভিডি প্লেয়ার, টেবিল টেনিস বোর্ড, চেস, কার্ডস, জিমনেশিয়াম থেকে শুরু করে টাইম পাস করার অনেক কিছুই জাহাজে থাকে। ডিউটি আওয়ারের শেষে যে যেভাবে খুশি সময় কাটাতো।
এখন প্রায় সব জাহাজেই ওয়াইফাই সুবিধা থাকায় বেশিরভাগ জাহাজি অবসর সময়ে পরিবারের সাথেই মেসেঞ্জার, ইমো, হোয়াটসএপে কথা বলে সময় কাটায়। এই ওয়াইফাই এ সাটলাইট এর মাধ্যমে ইন্টারনেট কানেকশন থাকে। এই এছাড়া জাহাজিরা জয়েনিং এর আগে মুভি, নাটক, টিভি সিরিজ ভর্তি হার্ড ডিস্ক নিয়ে যায় ৬/৯ মাসের বিনোদন হিসেবে। যার যার কেবিনে বসে ল্যাপটপে এসব দেখে সময় কাটায়। তাই জাহাজে এখন বোরিং লাগার সুযোগ নেই বললেই চলে।
• *জাহাজে কি শুধু সামুদ্রিক মাছ ধরেই খান? অন্য মাছ/মাংস থাকেনা?
• -জাহাজ সমুদ্রে থাকলেও আমাদের দরকার হয়না মাছ ধরার। জাহাজ পোর্ট ছাড়ার আগেই প্রয়োজনীয় খাবার কোম্পানি থেকে সাপ্লাই দেয়া হয়। জাহাজে ব্রেড-জেলী থেকে শুরু করে সব ধরনের খাবারই থাকে।
জাহাজে কি ধরনের খাবার থাকে বললে এর সহজ উত্তর হবে, এমন সব খাবার যা আমরা সচরাচর খাইনা আর যেসব খাবার আমরা টিভি সিনেমায় 'চৌধুরী সাহেব বা খান বাহাদুরদের' খেতে দেখি!

• *সমুদ্রে তো লবনাক্ত পানি, নরমাল পানি কোথায় পান বা পাবেন যদি শেষ হয়ে যায়?
• সাধারণত জাহাজে মিনারেল ওয়াটার পান করার জন্য নেওয়া হয়।। কিন্তু যদি মিনারেল ওয়াটার ফুরিয়ে যায় তখন -জাহাজে একটা মেশিন আছে যেটার নাম 'ফ্রেশ ওয়াটার জেনারেটর'! এটার কাজই হচ্ছে 'সী-ওয়াটার' (লবনাক্ত পানি) থেকে 'ফ্রেশ-ওয়াটার' (নরমাল পানি) তৈরি করা। ২৪ ঘন্টায় এটা ২৫ হাজার লিটার (প্রয়োজনে আরো বেশি) পর্যন্ত নরমাল পানি বানাতে পারে।
• *এত বড় বড় ঢেউ! ভয় করেনা?
• -প্রথমে ভয় যে একটু আধটু করতো না সেটা না, কিন্তু এখন অভ্যস্ত হয়ে গেছি। মহান আল্লাহর উপর ভরসা করে আমরা বিক্ষুব্ধ ঢেউয়ের উপর দিয়ে নিরন্তর ছুটে চলি দেশ থেকে দেশান্তরে।
• *সমুদ্রে ঝড়ের কবলে পড়েন না?
• -আধুনিক যুগে প্রযুক্তির উন্নয়নে জাহাজ আর জাহাজিদের জীবন অনেক বেশি নিরাপদ। এখন যেকোনো ঝড়ের পূর্বাভাস অনেক আগে থেকেই আমরা পেয়ে থাকি। পূর্বাভাস পেয়ে সেভাবেই কোর্স পরিবর্তন করা হয় যেন জাহাজ ঝড়ের কবলে না পড়ে। এখনো বড় কোন ঝড়ের কবলে পড়ার অভিজ্ঞতা হয়নি আমার।
• *আপনার জাহাজে করে আমাকে নিতে পারবেন না কোথাও? ধরেন অস্ট্রেলিয়া,আমেরিকা বা ইউরোপ
• -অত্যন্ত কমন একটা প্রশ্ন। জাহাজে করে ক্রুদের বাইরে অন্য কাউকে নিয়ে সেইল করার কোন সুযোগ নেই। প্রতিটি পোর্টে পৌঁছানোর আগে ক্রু-লিস্ট পাঠাতে হয়। এমনকি কোন ক্রুয়ের কাছে কয়টা মোবাইল, ল্যাপটপ, ঘড়ি ইত্যাদি পার্সোনাল জিনিসপত্র আছে সে লিস্টও!! তাছাড়া প্রতিটা পোর্টেই প্রবেশাধিকার সংরক্ষিত। মানে আমার জাহাজ কোন পোর্টে গেলে আমি চাইলেই কাউকে আমার জাহাজ দেখানোর জন্য নিতে পারব না। প্রতিটা পোর্টেই প্রবেশ কিংবা বেরুবার জন্য পোর্ট অথরিটি থেকে একটা 'শোর-পাশ' থাকে যেটা ছাড়া কেউ ঢুকতে/বেরুতে পারেনা। অনেকেই জাহাজে করে লুকিয়ে ইউরোপ-আমেরিকা যাওয়ার জন্য অনেকে চেষ্টা করে, বিশেষ করে আফ্রিকানরা। এজন্য ওসব দেশের পোর্ট ছাড়ার আগে বিশেষভাবে জাহাজে তল্লাশি করা হয়।
• *রাতেও জাহাজ চলে? দিকনির্দেশনা কই পান?
• -জাহাজ দিনরাত ২৪ ঘন্টাই চলে। আধুনিক সকল যন্ত্রপাতি যেমন GPS, RADAR, AIS সবই আছে জাহাজে।
• *জাহাজে নাকি লাল-নীল পানির ছড়াছড়ি?
• -অনেক আগে এলকোহলের জন্য খুব বেশি কড়াকড়ি না থাকলেও এখন প্রতিটা শিপিং কোম্পানিতে 'জিরো এলকোহল পলিসি'! এমনকি পোর্টেও চেক করা হয়। জাহাজে উইকলি, মান্থলি ছাড়াও হুটহাট করে এলকোহল টেস্ট হয়ে থাকে যাতে পজিটিভ হলেই কোম্পানি বাড়ির টিকিট ধরিয়ে দিবে। আর আমরা মুসলিমপ্রধান দেশের জাহাজিরা সেসব এমনিতেও চেখে দেখিনা। তাই শোনা কথায় কান দিবেন না।
