For some people clothes, piercing, and tattoos are just a matter of aesthetic. But for some it is how we show our personality. We are free to choose what to wear and what to do with our body. We are free to use whatever clothes we want. We are free to decorate our body with tattoos and we are free to pierce any part of our body. This freedom allows us to show how freely we are and what personality we have. That is why it makes sense that this topic must be discuss in ethics.
But we need to understand the fact that our freedom in this aspect is different in other groups. Unlike Muslims, it is their tradition to wear their Hijab for women. Also in early times, Mayans pierce tongues as a symbol for nobility. In the early times in the Philippines especially in some ethnic groups, it was their tradition to have tattoos as a mark of bravery, status, or religious affiliation.
These things that we sometimes perceived as an aesthetic have rich backgrounds especially in the part of culture. This must be discuss in ethics subject to learn what it means in having these things.
