The Art of Letting Go Have you ever watched trapeze artists? They hold onto one bar, create momentum, and then just like that, they let go. In that moment the choice is made to either grab onto the next bar with both hands, or keep one hand holding on. If they choose to hold on, I assume one of two things would happen: either they would get stuck with one hand on each bar, stretched out, or just fall completely. There comes a point in all of our lives where we need to let go. We need to let go of the past: the hurt, unmet expectations, loss, hopes, and dreams. It is a healthy way to move on. We cannot possibly continue to move forward in our own lives if we are constantly holding on to that bar from our past. Letting go is not giving up. Letting go is not quitting. Letting go does not mean you do not know what to do or how to do it. Letting go does not imply that you are unstable or inconsistent. Letting go simply means that you are aware that in order to experience anything new, better, or different you have to first let go.    Things have been shaky for me this pandemic, not really that shaky though but on my career side. I ended my contract last April 30 but then was extended due to the COVID-19 quarantine that was conducted in our place, so, by June I continued to serve the school that I am working. My contract officially ended last June 30. I applied to be a public-school teacher and supposed to be April 5 is our English Proficiency Test but then due to the quarantine, it was cancelled. I waited 4 long months to take the English Proficiency Test and the good news came that it will finally be conduct on August 3 and 4, but that was just a taste of good news to me because I wasn’t really part of the takers for the reason that I am asthmatic and they will not allow me to be in the testing center. This is heartbreaking for me. I really want to be placed in the ranking this year but helplessly, I failed now because I will no longer have points for the English Proficiency Test. I cried a lot the moment I received the news and had lots of blamings and regrets to myself. I cannot imagine being stagnant or being unemployed for the rest of the year. I have pressures with me.           Now, I am writing this one, as my way of letting go of this heartbreaking piece of my career because I cannot control this kind of thing and we are all struggling with this pandemic. Maybe this year is not for me yet, but I know my time will come. I loved teaching since I was a kid and I have told myself to be a public teacher is such a career fulfillment for me, but it is not for me yet, and I will be preparing for the best on my second try for the ranking. This is me accepting my fate, this is me letting go of this unfortunate time, and this is me making peace with my own timeline.   Thank you for reading! God bless!     Always remember, La Vie est Belle (Life is Beautiful)     ***LIKE, COMMENT, SUBSCRIBE***

The Grievous Land An aesthetic place but has a grievous land A land so soft, yet in the eyes so dry Land with holes inside at levels so high Created by working people by hand When the sun has not yet touched the grassland, The peaceful morning was broken, but why? Alarming the land is not what we try, But protect the people and their homeland A tragedy that took so many lives, Broke many bones, and broke the people’s hearts Now what can we do to make them feel light? To remove the pain and all those sharp knives? We may not bring back what was torn apart, But we must believe we can win this fight   *This is poem is written for what happened in Naga City, Cebu. The landslide that took lives of many residents of that place early in the morning.*

Novacane Lying down on this spider’s web, entrapped, Couldn’t escape no matter how I try, I am strong and mighty, I wonder why. I want to be free than forever wrapped. Now, I figured that I am too inapt, For situations like love, I don’t comply. She said “nay”, yet I still surmise an “aye”. Up to this time, I still look at you, rapt. I admit, I hate the way I love you, Couldn’t stand cause you have no words to say. All of you, it’s just too good to be true, But for now I must declare an endplay. Oh Novacane, I don’t know what to do, Should I just stay or should I walk away? ***Explanation:*** This poem I wrote is about a story of mine about miserable romance. I wrote this to express what I have felt for a really long time and what should I do about it. In the first stanza, I pictured myself as a prey trapped in something, I couldn’t let go of no matter what I try to do. Even though I may look strong, I’m too weak to let go. In the second stanza, I showed how I affected I am to her that I hated myself for loving her too much but I finally, thought of making a final decision: to wait or to move on. I also visualized her as a novacane. Novacane, also known as Procaine, is a white crystalline powder used chiefly in its hydrochloride form as a local anesthetic in medicine and dentistry. You ask me why I see her as a novacane? It’s just like taking one to discharge any pain but as I take more and more, the side-effects take in and I end up hurting myself.

Long Distance Relationship LDR or Long distance relationship is an intimate relationship between partners who are geographically separated from one another. May it be because both of you are living from different cities or countries or either of you is working abroad. Does it work? Yes, it works. Does it usually work? No, it doesn’t. Long-distance relationships, like any relationship, take hard work. It takes courage and trust. If both of you are true to each other then you will remain faithful to each other. You know, I’d go with faithful always. Personally, I am in a long-distance kind of relationship because my boyfriend is a seafarer and we only bond for 2 or 3 months in a year. This year is really sad for both of us because we expected his arrival last April but due to COVID-19, crew change is put on hold. Do we miss each other? Yes of course! We miss each other a lot! So, how do we stay faithful? Yes, my advice is always to be faithful to each other because if you hold faithfulness in your relationship, and with your partner, everything will follow – trust, loyalty, and everything will remain strong. The thing is, you just have to always choose your relationship every time. What does this mean? This means, when you are in a fight? Choose your relationship and fix it, lower your pride. Always. When we say we choose our relationship, it also means, we are not going to do something that will hurt our partner or destroy our relationship itself. Choosing your relationship means valuing your bond of love. Here are some of my tips on How we make our Long-Distance Relationship Work: 1.      **Always communicate.** – It is unnecessary to tell him or her every detail of what you are doing for that day, just an update is good enough, some sharing of your highs and lows of the day or some sweet messages to motivate your partner to seize the day. Basically, communication is everything in a long-distance relationship to always remind each other that you’ve got each other each and every day even if you are apart. 2.      **See it as an opportunity.** – “If you want to live together, you first need to learn how to live apart.” – Anonymous. Well, it has been said that absence makes the heart grow fonder and that’s the same with distance. 3.      **Agree on some ground rules to manage your expectations. –** Agree to set some ground rules so that none of you will do things that will take the other party by surprise. Both of you need to be clear with what you expect of each other during this long-distance relationship. 4.      **Respect for each other. –** Respect your partner and that means always be considerate to his or her time, do not demand too much attention, especially if he or she is working or have something to do all day and feels tired and can no longer give that much attention to the day. He or she needs to rest. 5.      **Pray together or pray for each other and your relationship.** – Personally, my boyfriend and I are practicing that every night, I have to send him the gospel of the day so that I can read the gospel and he can read it too when it’s time for him to go to bed. Sometimes, if we are calling each other and it’s sleeping time here in PH, I’ll read the gospel and he listens and then I explain and asks him what he understood and we also pray together on the call. Well, what is working now on our relationship may not work for you. But here’s the popping advice, “ALWAYS CHOOSE EACH OTHER AND ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE EACH OTHER BECAUSE YOU LOVE EACH OTHER.”   God bless everyone! Spread love! Endearment That day was an achievement When “MY” was our endearment I don’t want to forget that moment Because that day my world turn another movement   You are my everything A day without you is nothing It seems so boring And tears would start falling   You are “MY” happiness I laugh because of your childishness I smile because of your cheeziness And you always put away my sadness   You are my love, My one and only love, The one, the one who broke MY heart.

The First Man The first man that she loved, she said, He was tall and dark And his eyes have a dazzling spark He has those dimples on his cheeks That appears every time he speaks   He looks great when he dance That she couldn’t even skip a glance He can also sing That pushed her to have this kind of feeling   He loved her so much from the beginning That she never thought for any ending They always wanted to be together And thought that they will stay forever   Until the promises were broken And everything was forgotten She thought that they will never be apart But the first man that she loved, Broke her heart

The Kissing Booth: Review I am not sure if someone here has already written about this, but this is a great movie if you want a romantic kind of teenage movie. This is directed by Vince Marcello and story by Beth Reekles. The plot centers around Elle Evans (Joey King), a high school student who has been best friends with Lee Flynn (Joel Courtney, who I'll always remember for his guest appearance on Fox's short-lived APB), helped by the fact that they were born on the same day. That, along with the death of Elle's mother, solidified a bond between the two best friends. To help keep their friendship together, Elle and Lee made a set of rules, with Lee taking one incredibly seriously: his older brother Noah (Jacob Elordi) is off-limits. But despite this, Elle can't help but develop a crush on Noah, one that she keeps in secret for fear of hurting Lee. But as Elle begins to hit puberty and attract the attention of her male classmates, she learns that her crush may not be as one-sided as she believed, as she learns that Noah has been warning her classmates not to try and take advantage of the inexperienced Elle. Overall, The Kissing Booth is a harmlessly fluffy teen flick, with solid acting and an entertaining plot. Joey King does well as our inexperienced, but a fiercely independent heroine and Courtney and Elordi have good chemistry as brothers as well as with King in their respective roles as Elle's best friend and secret lover. The film's plot, though, opened itself up to much controversy as of its release, with many proclaiming the movie as sexist and "worshiping of the male gaze". I can see merit in these claims, but feel they are unwarranted once you see the movie fully. While Noah's protective actions regarding Elle at first appearance are controlling and demeaning, and Lee's anger at Elle dating Noah come off as selfish, the movie makes it clear that their actions are not healthy or OK, on multiple occasions, Elle tells Noah off for being overbearing and short-tempered in his attempts to "protect" her, and the film's climax includes an incredibly cathartic scene of Elle confronting Lee for trying to tell her who she could and couldn't fall in love with, even outright telling him that if he couldn't respect the choices she made in her life, she couldn't have him in her life. The film also has a surprisingly realistic conclusion, with Elle reflecting on her relationship with Noah and admitting that, as much as she feels about him, it might not work out or last long-term. With so many teen films out there depicting high school romances as being be-all-end-all, it's refreshing to see a movie address that high school loves may not work out as one wants them to. Well, Netflix announced as sequel of *The Kissing Booth.* Will see how their relationship came out since Noah is already in college. Will they really workout or no? Let’s see. Initial release of the sequel will be on 24 July 2020 on Netlfix and it is directed by Vince Marcello based on The Kissing Booth 2: Going the Distance; by Beth Reekles. ***Please like, comment and subscribe!***

Saging Pinaypay/ Banana Fritters The Philippines is very abundant in banana and Filipinos have a variety of recipes for them.  The ever-famous banana cue, this recipe that I’ll be sharing which is *pinaypay na saging* or banana fritters is a one favorite dessert serving that the kinds and the oldies will love. This recipe requires very few ingredients and no elaborate cooking expertise is required for those who wish to try this at home. One just has to learn how to form sliced bananas into a hand fan, which the name ***pinaypay na saging*** derives its name from. I tried this at home, since my Mom, bought a lot of ripe bananas to help her dealer during the community quarantine here in our place.  *Try this out!* **Ingredients:** 10 pcs banana (*saba* variety) white sugar (Prepare a lot this will coat the banana fritters.) 2 1/2 cups of cooking oil 1 cup of flour Achuete *You can adjust the ingredients if you are going to make more.   **Cooking Procedure:** 1.      Mix flour with appropriate amount of water. Whisk with pinch of achuete then set aside. 2.      Heat oil in a deep-frying pan or caserole and should be in a medium heat. 3.      Peel the banana’s and slice it into a hand fan shape. 4.      Put sliced banana in the mixture and coat it evenly. 5.      If the cooking oil is ready, slowly add the banana mixture and let it fry. 6.      Sprinkle it with white sugar. **Cooking Tips:** 1.      Do not overcook the banana or else it can leave a bitter taste. 2.      Do not throw the remaining oil. Keep it and use it for other way of cooking. 3.      Drain the excess oil or you can use a tissue paper. 4.      You don’t always have to put sugar in all the banana fritters, some might consider eating it directly especially if the banana is already sweet. Enjoy! Serve it with your favorite juice! Try it at home and let me know! ***Please like, comment and subscribe!***

Look back on the Classic: The Count of Monte Cristo I am really hoping that you guys as well love classics. Enjoy reading this entry! The movie *The Count of Monte Cristo* revolved around between the rich and the poor people can or cannot do when it comes to influence and power, and the revenge of Edmund Dantes. Edmund before his imprisonment, is a kind, innocent, honest, and loving man. Though naturally intelligent, he is a man of few opinions, living his life instinctively by a traditional code of ethics that impels him to honor his superiors, care dutifully for his aging father, and treat his fellow man generously. Dantès is filled with positive feeling, admiring his boss, Monsieur Morrel; loving his father; adoring his fiancée, Mercédès; and even attempting to think kindly of men who clearly dislike him. His life is ruined because of others envy to him especially his friend Fernand Mondego, who betrayed him and later takes his fiance as his own wife. He was the victim of an unfortunate coincidence, because of lack of education, he doesn’t know how to read and write, thus, he wasn’t able to know what the letter is all about which was then a plan of rebellion by Bonaparte. The movie awakens me up that we couldn’t really trust no one even if we call them our best friend, especially when we are too innocent and too good, many will take advantage. It also tells us the price we have to pay for being innocent and uneducated. I can say that the movie is full of hope. As the line “God will give me justice” which Edmund Dantes engraved in the wall in the prison many times on the same spot, but later on Edmund, being a God-fearing person stopped engraving, he lost his trust with God after what had happened to him. He thought that God was never there in those times he needed his company and was never a God of justice. Thus, he lost his faith in God. As his priest friend said, ‘God believes in you”. This line is the stunning revelation that set us free from the prison of loneliness and distrust. I have come to realize that “us” humans tend to lose faith and tend to lose hope and we forget that our amazing and powerful God believes in us. He is the most powerful believes that we can do it, that we can make it through. The movie *The Count of Monte Cristo* has a massive impact on humanity. This movie reminds us that even how many hardships and problems that will come our way, we should not give up because there is another way, we just have to have our will. The movie also gave me a new perspective of vengeance, which is never meant for self-fulfillment but for the good of everybody. A vengeance that is not for self-satisfaction and hatred but for justice. Justice for the wrongs that they have done unto us, so we gave them the lessons that they deserve.

Helen of Troy             “A beauty that launched a thousand ships and destroyed an empire.”  The movie, Helen of Troy revolves around Paris. Who was sent away from the empire on the day he was born because Cassandra foretold that someday he would be the reason that Troy will burn and fall but then, Paris in an unexpected encounter, he finds his way back home. In his return, he was sent to Sparta as an emissary and fall into the most beautiful and the fairest woman in the world, Helen, who went willingly with him to Troy. Before the moment he finds his way home, Paris chose the bribe of Aphrodite which is to have the fairest woman in the world, Helen.             Helen of Troy is a 2003 television miniseries based upon Homer’s story of the Trojan War, as recounted in the epic poem Iliad. This TV miniseries also shares the name with the 1956 movie starring Stanley Baker. Helen of Troy, 2003 was written by Ronni Kern and directed by John Kent Harrison. Set in the 13th century B.C., Helen, the Olympian-born dazzlingly beautiful trophy wife of Sparta’s King Menalaus, unhappy is her marriage of state, Helen longed for the companionship of the gorgeous young man whom she had seen only in a reflection by the river: Paris, who was sent away but find his way back home and became a Prince of Troy. As Paris was sent to Sparta they met each other. Helen went willingly to with him ad Paris took her to his homeland, where she was welcomed by King Priam despite the foreshadowing from Paris’ foresighted sister Cassandra. Back in Sparta, King Menelaus with his brother Agamemnon had declared war on Troy, thus beginning of the 10-year conflict that would culminate destructively in the incident of Spartan’s masterpiece the Trojan horse. All of which greatly pleased Menelaus’ covetous brother, Agamemnon.             The movie, Helen of Troy, from the title itself, signifies the most beautiful and the fairest woman in the world. The actress, Sienna Guillory got the charm and body and she really portrayed it well. Though the copy that we viewed in the classroom doesn’t have an understandable subtitle, I was able to watch the movie again, in which English is the medium for communication. The movie was in a great flow, everything was clear, detailed, and understandable. The sequences of events move coherently and I think it was really based on Homer’s Iliad.             From the beginning until the end, it was worth watching. The passionate and intense love story of Paris and Helen, the fight and conflict give a great impact on the viewers and to the movie. Of course, the thrill was there. If I were to rate them I would give 10 over 10 because as a mythology student it was indeed worth watching and for those who are fond of reading and watching movies, you got to watch this. For the children, strong parental guidance is advised.   ***I hope that you guys love mythology too.***

Below the Food Chain Oh little mice living down the food chain, Toiling daily yet still a low-life prey. Predators hunting to keep you at bay Hungry for boon, which to you is a bane Don’t care if you suffer for still they gain For them, you’re nothing but a price to pay There is no escape - you can’t leave nor stay. No Choice, but to stand there and wait in vain. Oh little birds, with crowded nests or none A flock too many, provisions too less It can be fixed, yet the system’s broken Search for a new nest and follow the sun Fly and reach the highest mountain crest, Lacked in feathers, yet wings still in motion. Explanation: At first glance, you may think that the sonnet is all about animals specifically the predator and prey relationship. Actually, it’s not all about animals but it’s all about a current issue in our society. I wanted to do something different in making this sonnet. So, I thought about the problem that our society is facing right now. One of the major problems of our society right now is poverty. I thought of making this sonnet to give a message of the struggles and lives of the people in poverty.

Ginger and lemon juice has at least 10 common properties by which they: 1.      Aid digestion 2.      Are rich in vitamin C, an infallible remedy for your skin 3.      Boost metabolism 4.      Clean the blood 5.      Deeply cleanse the intestinal tract when taken with warm water 6.      Facilitate weight loss 7.      Have anti-inflammatory effects 8.      Have anti-oxidant effects 9.      Help eliminate cellulite 10.  Strengthen the immune system   **Why Honey & Ginger Warm Lemon Water?** “Easy Detox! Lemon Water Fat Burner! Drink Your Way to Weight Loss! Detox to Get Rid of Stomach Fat! Lose 22 pounds in 2 weeks!” However, in reality, one single ingredient or one single recipe does not have the magical healing abilities to make you feel better or shed excessive amounts of weight without making other positive holistic lifestyle changes. The food and drinks we enjoy can certainly aid our body’s natural detoxification pathways, but if you are lucky enough to have a functioning liver and kidneys, your body naturally takes care of the natural detox process for you. When it comes to weight loss, I think it is important to note that weight loss is not the single answer to good health. In fact, I think the secret to achieving good health lies in the ability to look past simple weight loss and focus instead on health-promoting behaviors. It requires self-discipline and ***Warm Ginger and Lemon Water with Honey*** can help. Personally, I can attest that with this drink my bowel movement improved. It allowed me to release p0*p daily and easily and for me that simply means, it helps in the food processing inside my tummy and it has been said that if your daily food intake is processed well, then, it will help you lose weight for there will be no more unnecessary content within your body.             **How to prepare the Warm Ginger and Lemon with Honey drink?**                         Well, there are many ways to prepare the drink. At home, we practiced boiling enough water in the casserole and add in the ginger slightly pressed and lemon slices. When the ginger and lemon juice are mixed through boiling, we have to pour in a cup an amount of the liquid and add in the honey. Stir using a spoon to mix and that’s it! Wait for it to be warm that you can enjoy your drink without being afraid of burning your tongue. ***Hope you find this informative.
