Hello everyone, let me rock your day/night by asking an economical question. A piece of equipmeng that is being considered as a replacement for an existing item has greater reliability, that is, the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) during the operation of the new equipment has been increased 40% in comparison to the present item. Now the question is how feasible is the new equipment in terms of monetary unit? I am hoping to hear your economical views. Shoutout to all engineers, business pips and devs, your opinions would be of great help. #EngineeringEconomy

Actually I didn't get, in what terms you're expecting answer @ladyhanabi so I just answer what I feel correct & easy to explain here in comments 😅 So as the new equipment has 40% higher MTBF then the number of breakdowns or failures in equipment will be less and the equipment be functional for more hours. So it improves & contiunes the production/process of usability of that equipment. And time is definitely a gold in productions or in industries. Along with higher usages the increased MTBF will also cut off the maintenance cost & also the MTTR i.e the 'mean time to repair'. So double benefits 🤪 As high MTBF will affect only for unexpected maintenance the normal scheduled maintenance has to be done. Along with those direct impacts the new equipment will also helps with other things like in failure codes, maintenance strategy and helps to avoid costly breakdowns. So what I'm trying to say for non technical people here is, the new equipment is good 🤣 Hope I've answered relevantly, did I ? How can i even answer when you clearly stated the good point haha. Of course i agree. An increase of 40% is no joke, you can actually save money for the maintenance, and also save time. If we're also talking about the efficiency, even if the new product will cost higher than the previous one, it's economically wise to use the new one since it'll give more advantages to the economy and the whole world charrot hahah😂.
Actually it'll cost lesser to produce a product and I think economy grows when there's balanced relation between the potential purchase ability of a buyer and the price. I'm going to buy a product which costs higher and higher product prices won't help country's economy to grow but the higher purchasing ability of a citizen helps.
What i actually mean is the new equipment, though it'll cost higher than the previous one, it's still good since the maintenance cost will be less and the efficiency will be high, thus making the product cost less (as you stated)

I am honestly amazed that at least someone shared their thoughts in this economical matter. I would like to thank @Ashma & @Charlotte for making these technical terms easier to understand. Well, I could say that I've already learned enough from you guys. The 40% increase in the MTBF of the new equipment really tells a lot on how great the item's reliability and usability improved in comparison with the present item. Thank you again for your time ❤
