The 3rd year students of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering from Bicol University College of Agriculture and Forestry was divided into groups and tasked to layout different structures as a final project for ABE 31: AB Structures Engineering with the following contents and conditions:

Contents for final project:

1)      Layout and drawing of the structure assigned:

i.e. floor plan: front rare and side view; electrical plan: good for permit application

2)      Bill of materials or cost estimate

e.g. construction

3)      Cost analysis

Note: The housing for Swine production is a one-unit system (good for 20 sows and can accommodate 12 piglets for sow)

The group assigned for the Housing of Swine Production is currently discussing about the application or software to use for the layout design. To be able to have a smooth and exquisite flow in the process of the project making, the designation of role for every member was also tackled. The group decided to make a visit to a sample Housing for Swine Production, but as per considerations for those who can’t come during the visitation due to the current situation, the group members Kaye, Joy and Czar volunteered as representatives to do the site visit. And for the cost and cost analysis, the group members are still learning on how to calculate the said problem for the accuracy of the final project report. As for the status of our final project, for now, the members are trying to freehand sketch the structure of the housing for swine production for the hard copy reference and for the brainstorming of the desired design. Other than that, since it is hard to talk using messenger chats, the group scheduled a date for a group discussion that will range for at least 1 to 2 hours to deeply understand each member’s role and responsibilities on the said final project.
