The word astrology comes from the early latin word astrologia, which derives from the Greek—astrologya from  astron ("star") and  -logia, ("study of"—"account of the stars")

Throughout most of its history, astrology was considered a scholarly tradition and was common in academic circles, often in close relation with astronomy, alchemy and medicine. It was present in political circles and is mentioned in various works of literature. Following the end of the 19th century and the wide-scale adoption of the scientific method of view researchers have successfully challenged astrology on both theoretical and experimental grounds, and have shown it to have no scientific validity or explanation. Astrology thus lost its academic and theoretical standing, and common belief in it has largely declined. While polls have demonstrated that approximately one quarter of American, and British people say they continue to believe that star- and planet-positions affect their daily and eternal lives.

Astrology in one form or other is prevalent in all countries and religion, but the names vary. But now a days finding a good astrologer is a difficult task.
