From Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th September Imola (Italy) will be the capital of international cycling, which will be the side dish of the fight for the rainbow jersey. The town of Romagna, which last replaced the initial headquarters of Aigle Martigny in Switzerland, has the Enzo and Dino Ferrari motor racing circuit as its starting and finishing point for all races. The men's inline test will take place on a particularly insidious circuit of 28.8 km to be repeated nine times with a difference in altitude of over 5000 metres.

Who will be the World Champion?
The most eagerly awaited man is Belgian Wout Van Aert, fresh from two stage victories at the Tour de France and victorious at the "Strade Bianche" and the "Milano-Sanremo". Wout Van Aert is in an overflowing condition. The route is very well suited to his characteristics: he can attack, but also wait for a possible narrow sprint. Julian Alaphilippe will be the one to try, once again launching the challenge. He would have preferred the Swiss Jakob Fuglsang route, with a longer ascent and more gradient. In any case, the Dane is one of the world's top one-day races and can exploit his endurance skills by launching an attack on the last lap. Also expected is the home champion Vincenzo Nibali. In any case, it will be the time trial races that will inaugurate the short Imola 2020 event (only the Elite categories will be the protagonists, because of the virus crown). The men's time trial is Friday 25 September. Among the big favourites, there is an Italian: Filippo Ganna. Despite his young age, he is already mature and ready to take the podium. It is impossible not to mention Tom Dumoulin, captain of the Netherlands in both the inline and time trial races. The British couple made up of Geraint Thomas and Alex Dowsett are also fierce, while France is betting on Remi Cavagna, a skilled passerby.
