Walter White, a mediocre and uncharismatic chemistry teacher from Albuquerque, in his early fifties, is forced to take a second job as a car wash employee to cope with the family's financial difficulties. Added to all this is Walter's deep sense of dissatisfaction, who has to put up with the harassment of his owner, friends and family, who see him as a weak and submissive man: in particular his brother-in-law Hank, a DEA agent, with whom he has a good relationship, never misses an opportunity to compare his adventurous life with Walter's, totally devoid of satisfaction. Walter's situation worsens after discovering that he has an incurable disease (lung cancer). His life seems to be falling apart, however, following a chance encounter with Jesse Pinkman, a former student of his who has become a small-time drug dealer, Walter decides to cook crystal meth. The drug is an easy way to raise easy money and leave a rich inheritance to his wife Skyler, pregnant with their second daughter, and his son Walter "Flynn" Junior, (suffering from cerebral palsy). Starting to produce and sell synthetic drugs from one day to the next transforms Walter from a clumsy teacher to a real criminal, discovering in himself an unexpected new "talent". Walter's product, however, turns out to be of much higher quality than the competition, with a purity of 99.1%, derived from his chemical knowledge. He decides to use his skills to take control of the drug market under the pseudonym "Heisenberg".

Breaking Bad is the brainchild of Vince Gilligan and starring Bryan Cranston as Walter White, flanked by Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman) with his sixteen Emmy Awards, eight Satellite Awards and two Golden Globe has now become a cult. Broadcast for five seasons, for a total of 62 episodes, it is one of the most appreciated and followed TV series in the world. According to many fans, it is the best series of recent years. Or in any case, few others meet all the requirements to reach the same level. The series gave rise to two spin-offs: the television series Better Call Saul, centred on the character of Saul Goodman and El Camino - Breaking Bad, starring Jesse Pinkman and his escape to freedom.
