"Mom, Can I play outside?" asked her daughter. She was hesitant at first but it later agreed. Her daughter came out of the house immediately after her mother told her.
They live in a remote village near the forest. So she often plays alone in the ruins while her father collects wood and sells it as coal.
It's getting late but her daughter was still not home. Her husband didn't came back yet and she started to worry. So she started looking for her daughter. Carrying only a flashlight. She started walking deeper into the forest and began to call her daughter's name.
"Kylie, where are you?!" she began to worry when no one answered. She called it again and again.
"Kylie," she tried to call it on her phone but it didn't answer. Shortly after, her husband came home and his wife panickly told him that their daughter is missing.
"What happened to you?" Frank said after he notice his wife ran towards him.
"Frank, our daughter is missing, Kylie is missing," she tried to control her breathing as she began to panic.
Her husband immediately put down his tools and helped her wife continue the search. It's been two hours of searching but still no trace of their daugther was found.
They've called 911 for help and hoped for their daugther to be safe and sound when they found her. But they failed. So they're forced to call it a night and take some rest. But Sarah can't even had a nap that night, thinking what happened to their daughter.
They did all their efforts to find their daughter but none of it worked. They've posted pictures of her, they've reported it to the police and they also tried to give a reward for who will bring their daughter back but none of it worked.
It was never a cased closed. Rumors started spreading when the other female kids from their village started missing that year and not even a trace found. They said that an unknown entity is the one who's behind all the missing children.
Kylie's parents began to lose hope. They prayed desperately, and the other villagers conducted their own hunt carrying a torch one night. It lasted for half a year but they found nothing.
After a year, vilagers from that place started to move out. They feared for their lives. And Frank and Sarah are the only ones who are left in the place.
15 years later.
They never knew what really happened. As they continue their lives there with their son who is now 7 years old. Moving on from their past. And leaving their burden for their missing daughter. Creating new memories until one night.
Someone called them, that number belonged to Kylie.
Sarah pressed the answer button.
"H-Hello Kylie, is that you?" she asked.
"Mom, please help! Someone's following me. He's carrying an axe," her daughter's scared voice is echoed in the other line. She heard running and panting, frightening footsteps following her daughter, and the only thing she knew that that call is supposed to be 15 years ago. But why are they hearing it now. Her daughter's voice never changed. It was still the 9 year old kid they knew.
Her mind filled with wonder. She wanted to end the call as she heard in the other line that man with an axe caught her little girl. But she wanted to know the truth.
"Mom! Help me!" her daughter screamed as the phone slipped of her hands.
"Dad? Dad! Please no," her daughter's muffled voice began to fade. And the only thing she could hear was the axe blows and the splattering of blood all over before the call was ended. She froze. She slowly turned to her husband behind him and saw him holding a gun. And even before she could react.
A gunshot echoed and Frank's son smiled at him as they finally released their true form. Sarah saw them before she ran out of breath.
