Are You a New, Aspiring Amateur Photographer? Here are some tips to get you started!
Are you an ambitious, new amateur photographer?
Then make sure to first learn the basics.
It's not enough to just shoot photos—you need to know what makes them look good, and how to improve your technique.
In the recent times, as most of us have mobile phones with great-quality cameras, we are used to taking great shots/videos. But do we have what it takes? Could we move on and improve our technique? Would we stand a chance to make more of our photography passion?
If you're just starting out, here are some tips to consider:
Keep your camera out of the sun. The light is harsh and can cause glare, which can burn and destroy a photo.
Practice taking photos in different situations so that you get used to different types of light and subject matter (e.g., landscapes vs portraits).
Have you decided what photos you wish to take? Portraits? Landscape? Macro? Find the best equipment (you may also need a tripod at some point) and try it out
Make sure that the horizon is on a straight line.
Make sure that you have a steady grip
Follow photographers you admire, especially if they share tips & tricks
Make sure that your photography lens is clear! (Yes, at first all my images were pink .. can you imagine why??)
Make yourself familiar with your phone's photo/video settings.
Is your photograph interesting? Why should someone look at it? Give a subject to it.
Make sure that the light is correct. Try different positions if you can, to find the best view to the object. Or try many different shots
Don't drain your battery - you may not have enough when you ll find just the perfect shot/spot!
What do you think?
Do you also believe that internet and social media has made us all discover the artist/photographer hiding in us?
Did I leave anything out?
Where do you post your photographs?
Tell me about the channels/platforms you use and let's connect!
Dont forget - You cannot become a photographer overnight. You will need to read books on photography, do research online, and to take classes in person or online. For sure commitment and practice can make you the best!
