The Bank of Canada must issue a central bank digital currency (CBDC) that can be converted into a “CAD,” the colloquial term for the Canadian dollar, said a new report from the CD Howe Institute. Such a feat by the Bank of Canada will require that any potential stablecoin be well designed and regulated to be attractive to Canadians, they added.
