Polkadot (DOT) has completed the launch of the network's first batch of parachains. This historic event comes after Acala, Moonbeam, Parallel Finance, Astar, and Clover win the first 5 parachains auctions.
On Saturday, December 18, the Polkadot Equipment (DOT) launched the first batch of parachains. The milestone is intended to address scalability and interoperability issues.
The milestone represents a fundamental achievement for Polkadot, who indicated via Twitter:
"Después de 5 años de desarrollo activo y un lanzamiento de varias fases que comenzó en mayo de 2020, el lanzamiento de Polkadot ahora está completo, con cada una de las paracadenas ganadoras de subastas que actualmente producen bloques en la web".
Un camino interesante e histórico
The route for the launch of the Polkadot parachains began last October, once it was officially announced that motion 118 has been presented to the Polkadot Council to begin the auctions on November 11, a process that will be assigned one parachains slot for a total of 96 weeks.
On November 18 Alcala Network, an Ethereum compatible smart contract platform optimized for DeFi and DApps scalability on Polkadot. Polkadot's first parachain auction was successful.
The other 4 winning projects in the auctions were Moonbeam, Parallel Finance, Astar and Clover, projects that focus on DeFi, cross-chain interoperability and other use cases. Polkadot's official reporter underscores:

Simultaneously, the inventor equipments announced that the Polkadot Parachain celebration will take place on the current day, an event designed to celebrate the milestone and that will have the collaboration of the founders of Polkadot, Gavin Wood and Robert Habermeier.
