My Heroes

If we will see how much our overseas filipino workers are sacrificing themselves just for the sake and welfare of their families are well so pitiful. And I experienced it but the only difference is I am with my family that time.

There is no place like home. That’s what the airport terminals around the world have shown soon after the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic broke out and thousands of anxious passengers scrambled to take the first flight back to their families.

They are like celebrities that were admired too. The Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) were among the crowds. Hailed as the modern day heroes for their pursuit to give their families better lives, many of them opted to leave their jobs and risk their safety just to go home even if the journey at the midst of the pandemic would be a trail of obstacles.

I admired them so much because it's not a joke of travelling back to their own countries. Self risk is the main concern of having a long journey back home.

I have a friend, she is a domestic helper working in Dubai. I admired her courage of going home during the pandemic some time in June and you know what? She just came back again to Dubai this month of September after almost 3 months of vacation. She knows that if she will not come back is that her family will suffer from hunger.

She encountered her rules of quarantine right after she touched down the airport. It's about 2 weeks inside the hotel room waiting for the results of the covid test too.

All these she sacrificed not having for herself but for the family she left home. As I am aware, she is continually working now and a quite difficult also doing such her job too.

That is the model of our own modern hero for today. Giving all the things to the loveones without saying and counting all our sufferings and sacrifices. I salute you all for making this country so proud.
