Transportation

Transportation is an undeniable part of human activities, without transportation nothing could be done.

Meaning of transportation: transportation is a movement from origin to destination. transportation is a system of movement which use both energetic (like walking) and motive power (using machines) in the conveyance of people and goods from a place of low utility (origin) to a place of high utility (destination). these movements could be for the purpose of education, business (commerce, trade, farming, fishing and other related activities), leisure, tourism, work, soocial and political activitties.

The impact of transportation to human survival is enormous, for example transportation creates jobs for drivers, pilots, seafarers , engineers, spare part sellers, mechanics. food sellers and so on.

transpotation open up new markets and opportunities, it facilitates international trade through the use of container ships for world wide distribution of goods and services. air transport allows for faster travelling from one continent to another.

Transportation creates innovation in the technological sector by bringing about the use of information communication technology which brings about intelligent transport system where computers are deploy in the transportation vehicle like the adoption of global position system to track vehicles, self operating vehicles, infra red and so on.

As good as transportation is, it has a negative impact to the environment and societies for example carbon emission, pollution, accidents, congestion, parking problem and disruption of settlement through land use in the construction of roads, ports both sea port and air port, construction of railway line and so on.

Lastly, the various modes of transport are : land transport (cars, trains,) water transport ( Ships, boat canoes etc) air transport (airplanes, space craft, balloon), conveyor belt (transportation of materials within an industrial complex) pipeline transport for transporting liquid like crude oil, petrol, water, gas, chemicals and others.
