“Not that I speak in regard to need, FOR I HAVE LEARNED IN WHATEVER STATE I AM, TO BE CONTENT:

  1. I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.”
    Philippians 4:11,12 (NKJV)

• Paul said, he has learned to be content in whatever state.

  • Whoever wants to walk with God must learn how to be content.

  • The Bible says:
“Now godliness with contentment is great gain.”
    1 Timothy 6:6 (NKJV)

• Lack of contentment is a product of greed for money.

  • If you have greed for money, you will want to get it by all means, you will not be satisfied with what God has made available for you.

  • Contentment is one of the good attributes that a Christian should have, even the Bible says having it is a plus–a great gain.

  1. “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

  2. FOR the LOVE OF MONEY 💰 IS A ROOT OF ALL KINDS OF EVIL, FOR WHICH SOME HAVE STRAYED FROM THE FAITH IN THEIR GREEDINESS AND PIERCED THEMSELVES THROUGH WITH MANY SORROWS.”
    1 Timothy 6:9,10 (NKJV)

• Every believer should learn how to be content with whatever God is making available for him or her.

  • Contentment is the state of being satisfied with what you have, happy with it; but believing that God is able to give you more—move you forward.

  • Lack of trust in God can make you discontent.

  • If you have faith in God, trust in Him, you believe He is the One who provided what you have presently; therefore, believe He can do more for you.

  1. “LET YOUR CONDUCT BE WITHOUT COVETOUSNESS; BE CONTENT WITH SUCH THINGS AS YOU HAVE. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

  2. So we may boldly say:
“The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
    Hebrews 13:5,6 (NKJV)

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)

  • You tell God: ‘That which you have done is good, however you can do it again, you can do more for me Lord.’ That is how to walk with God.

• Having said that, contentment is different from containment. Containment is keeping of something within limits—holding something within itself.

  • Whatever God has given you is a fragment of what He has in plan for you.

  • God is progressive: the one He gave to you is a test and trust, He wants to know how you manage it, before He gives more to you.

  • You do not hoard God’s resources, you spread it for the intended purpose (Psalm 112:9).

  • God has a purpose for blessing you, you should use the blessing for what God has purposed it for (Haggai 2:3-11).

• What some people call contentment is containment. The little God has given them, they refuse to part with it, they hoard it, refuse to give it for God’s purposes.

  • Contentment is a great gain, however containment is a loss.

  1. “THERE IS ONE WHO SCATTERS YET INCREASES MORE; AND THERE IS ONE WHO WITHHOLDS MORE THAN IS RIGHT, BUT IT LEADS TO POVERTY.

  2. THE GENEROUS SOUL WILL BE MADE RICH, AND HE WHO WATERS WILL ALSO BE WATERED HIMSELF.”
    Proverbs 11:24,25 (NKJV)

• You will not fail in Jesus’ name.
Peace!
