Why is it necessary to explore the universe?

Whenever I see an article about the cosmos, a publication of astronomical discovery, or the news about the launch of a new telescope among other things. I also see and hear comments like: "Why invest money in exploring space instead of investing in saving our planet" "They should better study how to stop climate change" "Earth is our home, not Mars or Jupiter or any other planet".

Exploring space is necessary for many important reasons, it helps us understand the universe, it helps us detect and prevent dangers from outside and discover if there is life on other planets or which ones may host it.

Special research is as important as medicine, biology, archeology, and any other discipline, without astronomical studies, satellites would not exist or simply would not know how to make them work in Earth orbit, therefore the internet would not exist either. nor television, they could not communicate with their relatives by telephone, nor could we study or predict meteorological phenomena such as storms, hurricanes, or tornadoes.

Also many say why so much interest in Mars? And what many do not know is that Mars was once almost as similar as Earth, with oceans and atmosphere, for some reason it lost everything and became the arid and inhospitable planet that it is today. Studying it helps us understand more about our solar system and our planet, not to mention that despite everything that happened, it could become habitable in the future, becoming our home in the event of a catastrophe.

Our planet is not eternal, no matter how much we do the impossible to preserve it or thus manage to stop climate change, sadly it is doomed to a tragic end on many sides, within 4000 to 4500 million years our galaxy (The Milky Way) will collide violently with our neighboring galaxy (Andromeda) this will cause many stars to shoot out and collide with each other, in case our solar system survives, anyway in 5000 million years our sun will expand to adsorb mercury, venus, and earth and then die Of course, if before we are not hit by an asteroid, comet, quasar, or we are adsorbed by a black hole that is wandering through space. Surely several people will say that there are still many years for these events to happen and we will no longer be alive, but if we do not take action from now on we would be being selfish with the human species, the living beings of this planet and especially with future generations. That is why astronomy and all its branches are indispensable for the planet.

And what do you think? Do you still think that space study is a waste of time? Let me know your opinion in the comments, with respect it will be accepted.
