The world is in an unprecedented situation that most of us have never experienced before.  A combination of a global pandemic, rapid fiat printing and inflation, and also war.  It seems that as each day passes, more bad news comes out.  Each day seems to become darker and darker.  And so today, I wanted to write more of an upbeat type of article.  A distraction from all of the macro world news that is currently happening. Nothing involved with the recent bankruptcies of companies like Celsius and Voyager. And also not about how prices have dipped so low from the peak prices set late last year.  Today I will be taking about something much more upbeat and comedic.  Perhaps many of those who are reading this article are similar to me.  That crypto has become an extremely large part of your life. In fact, maybe we could even call it an addiction. And so today, we are going to my list of the top signs, that you may have a crypto addiction.

Of course everything is better in moderation, but I would argue that if done responsibly, having a responsible addiction to crypto and investing is a great thing.  It is the key factor that I attribute to completely changing my life financially.  If you are anything like me, it probably has already begun to change your life as well.

And so without further delay, let's talk about the top signs that you might have an addiction to crypto and investing.

1. Constantly Checking Crypto Prices

While veterans in the crypto space say that we should have a long-term timeline for investing in the space.  Not even worrying about the price. But, for those of us with a crypto addiction, we are always looking at prices.  This means it's the first thing we do upon waking up, the last thing we do before going to bed.  Checking prices when we going to the bathroom in the middle of the night.  And constantly checking throughout the day.  Perhaps we always have Binance's price tabs open on our computer.

2. Listening to Crypto Podcasts Instead of Music

If you have a crypto addiction, perhaps you have quit listening to music entirely and now only listen to podcasts about bitcoin, ethereum and crypto in general.  When your friends ask you what music you like and have been recently listening to. They think it's weird you can't even come up with a recent song that you like. And are even more shocked to find out that you haven't listened to music for months or years. With that said, I would argue that this could be a great thing, as long as you are getting your information from a great source.  Knowledge is power, and becoming well-versed in crypto is extremely valuable.

3. You Have Become Extremely Frugal In Order to Buy More Bitcoin and Crypto

If you have an addiction to bitcoin and crypto, there is a high chance that you are looking for any way possible to be able to accumulate more of it.  Since your salary is already basically set, the next best option is to begin drastically cutting things out of your budget.  Things like meeting friends, going out, restaurants, purchase and more.  In fact, perhaps you try to avoid making friends or having relationships, because you realize that it would just take money or time away from crypto.  Money that you would rather invest instead.  As always, there is a healthy balance to things.  Becoming more frugal, and investing in an incredible thing and should be applauded.  But, always remember to have a healthy balance.  Try to enjoy today, while also saving for tomorrow.

4. You are Known as the Crypto Guy/Girl Amongst Your Friends and Colleagues

If you are known as the crypto fanatic amongst your friends or colleagues, there is a chance you may have a crypto addiction.  The reason for this is because that means that you are probably constantly talking about bitcoin, crypto, and how macro news all relates to crypto.  Your friends can be having a normal conversation, and you can't wait to somehow bring this conversation's topic to crypto.  It's always on your mind, and is the only thing you think about. Perhaps you talk about it so much to your friends that once you mention it, your friends will become annoyed and roll their eyes.  They've seen this happen before, and know that you're just getting started.

5. You are the Crypto Evangelist That Tries to Convert Everyone to Bitcoin and Crypto

There is a good chance that you may have a crypto addiction if you try to convert all of your friends, family and colleagues into buying crypto.  It's likely that you will tell them about how horrible holding only fiat is, and how their wealth is being inflated away each year.  That the only way to survive is buying bitcoin.  This goes even further.  If you have then told them about how their are only 21 million bitcoin, and that to be rich, a person only needs to own 0.0027 BTC in the future.  Which in today's value is just over $50.  If you have said this, then there is a good chance Bitcoin and crypto have taken over your life.

6. Constantly Updating Your Portfolio

If you are constantly updating your portfolio and checking your balances on a daily basis, or even hourly basis, then you probably have a crypto addiction.  Probably we have all been guilty of this before.  Especially those of us who have become avid supporters of earning a passive income with crypto.  Methods of earnings this passive income via staking, lending and more.  It is exciting and feels good to see your balances continue to increase, but checking hourly or even daily is perhaps a bit too often.

7. You Have Stopped Watching TV Shows and Movies

Similar to not listening to music anymore, if you have stopped watching TV shows or movies in favor of watching crypto content on YouTube, then there is a good chance that you might have a crypto addiction. Again, I would argue that learning and becoming more versed in the space is a great thing, and gives you an advantage over many people trying to become successful in this market.  But, please be very wary of influencers on YouTube.  They are not your friends, and cannot be trusted. Most of the large names in the space are paid by projects to shill to you, and will say or advocate for anything, as long as they are paid for it.  So always be careful, and do your own research.

8. You Identify as a Bitcoiner or Crypto Enthusiast

If your own personality identity has shifts towards identifying as a bitcoiner or crypto enthusiast first, and everything else second. Then there is a good chance that you might have a crypto addiction. Everything is good in moderation.  I do believe that Bitcoin and crypto has the power to do a lot of good in the world.  Helping people become bankless, connecting them to the rest of the world, taking monetary control away from the governments and potentially protecting users from inflation.  But, there are also other important things in life that need to have equal importance or priority. Things such as family, key friends, health and so on.

9. You Believe Bitcoin will reach at least $1 million and is the Future

And finally, if you believe that the world moving towards bitcoin is inevitable, and will reach a price of at least $1 million very soon. Then you just might have a crypto addiction.  Also, if you have thought about possibly moving to places that have made bitcoin legal tender like El Salvador, that would qualify as well.  Most people reading this article probably do future that crypto is the future, but the reality is that most people who aren't in crypto would find that to be an extremely crazy idea.  Telling them that sooner rather than later, fiat money will  either be worthless or not used, and we will only be using crypto is very radical idea for them.

There you have yet.  These are just a few of the signs that might mean that you have a crypto addiction.  Naturally, I qualified for many of the categories.  While this was intended to be a comedic article, if your life has been completely overtaken by crypto, this might be a good time to take a step back and reflect.  Everything is better in moderation.  If you are too attached to the market, this current bear market would be much more stressful, and probably much more depressing.  Keep a long timeframe.

So how about you? How many of these signs do you qualify for?  Do you have any crypto addiction signs that I forgot to mention? And do you have a crypto addiction?
