The colours are rich and the quality of the image is gorgeous. It perfectly reproduces the music and sound. The only drawback is the commercials.
Plot Summary
Showgirl Vicki Gaye swore she would never fall in love, but then she met Tommy Farrell, the Chicago mob 's lawyer. He's married, he walks with a limp, he's condescending towards her. She still loves him and thinks he's a decent man. Will she rescue him from his own demons, his wife, and the mob?
Star Power B-
Charisse is a veteran of musicals from the 1950s, while Taylor was a star of the period. In crime and police films, Cobb had a successful career. In this movie, they all transform into convincing performances, with a kind of post-noir style.
Chill Factor A
In a sequence of sensual declarations, Charisse's dances at different plot points expose her inner character. The romance between the two, because of its impossibility, is all the more captivating. With the risk and the romance, your date will sizzle.
Mental Health Check C+
In this film, the violence and brutality is blunt and jarring, clearly talked about, unexpectedly committed. The peculiar nostalgia for the 1930s in which the film is set tempers the anxiety a little by putting some distance between the characters and the viewer. It is unsettling.
Overall Grade A-
This movie beautifully does many things, but has some noticeable flaws. The shifts between weeks , months, even years are unexpected and difficult to follow at times. The sequences of acts sound hurried. However, the film eventually draws you into a thrilling world of deceit in which only love can provide shelter.
