ls life possible without plastic? That is the question the answer is probably not now The fact is that to day the packaging industry is the largest consumer of new plastic particles- But we also use plastic in much more sustainable ways- This includes our buildings: transportation and other critical infrastructure It is included in our building transport furniture phones clothes and countless other things also included in our furniture appliances car pet phones a clothes and countless other everyday items that a world completely free of plastic is a fantasy- But imagining how our lives would change if we suddenly lost access to plastic can help us figure out how to build a new: more sustainable relationship with it- Humans have been like plastic for thousands of years- Using materials such as shellic it was made from the resin exuded by leaky insects- Plastic is the most important invention of the 20th century- The first plastic made from fossil fuels was Bakelite‘ invented in 1907- It was not until It is also used in hospitals for gloves tubes‘ syringes blood bags and tubes etc World War II that synthetic plastics for use other than the military began to be fully developed Even the hospital system cannot run without plastic- It is used in glove tubes; syringes blood bags a sample tubes etc- Some surgeons say hospitals use too much single—use plastic but many plastic medical items are indispensable and lives could be lost without them- Some everyday plastic items are also very important for health protection- Essential- Face masks; including -plastic surgical masks as well as reusable cloth masks have helped reduce the spread of Covid .

According to experts‘ without plastic¢ our food system will also pool rapidly- We use packaging to protect food from damage in transit and preserve it long enough to reach supermarket shelves; but also for communication and marketing- That it is now -impossible to completely separate (plastics) in our system.

according to expert so it is not just consumers who will need to change their habit supermarket supply chains will also have to change as they have become accustomed to selling packaged goods- Mean while highly perishable items with long journeys between farm and supermarket such as green beans will sit in fields unpicked- If we can solve these supply chain problem fruits and vegetables may be available for sales but we may have to shop more often- cucumbers and potato however are unaffected by plastic research suggests- Selling fruit and vegetables in bulk can reduce food waste as people will only buy what they need- Even tomatoes and fruit tins will not be wasted as they have food safety issues- has a plastic inner coat so we put dry pulses in paper bags Replacing plastic packaging with something else will also have an environmental impact- glass has some advantage over plastic such as being endlessly reuse abler a liter glass bottle can weigh up to 800 grams compared to 40 grams of plastic-Because of this glass bottles have a higher overall environmental impact than plastic containers for drinks such as milk and fruit juice- When these heavy bottles and jars need to be transported over long distances carbon emissions increase-increases- and the vehicles they're transporting if they don't have plastic in theme will be heavy them themselves which means even more emissions- However in some ways changing food packaging will be the easy part- You can buy milk in a glass bottle but the dairy industry uses plastic tubing to transport the milk from the cow to the bottle- even Without plastic industrial agriculture would seem impossible- Instead we need small food chains things like farm shops or community—supported enterprises-.

But with nearly half of the world's population living in city doing so will require big changes in where and how we grow food- Living without plastic will also require changes in the way we dress- will Before synthetic plastics became widespread shoes were often made of leather- But today‘ each of us owns several pairs- according to experts¢ we could not afford leather shoes for every person on the planet- according to experts there would be problems in a world without plastic; if we were to take care of our health- avoid its harmful effects.

Yes, life is possible without plastic and most of us lived without plastic not too long ago. I grew up in a world without plastic and saw plastic appear (toys first). For every paper bag, tin toy, and glass bottle an excuse was made why it should be changed into plastic. It was the same when it comes to clothes. How come cotton and linen are no longer available? Lazy people want easy things and throw them away. No one likes to carry or lift anything although we have horses, mules, cows, bikes, cars and so on who can make our lives easier. I have glass bottles again and get them refilled with milk. I use my own bags and reuse everything I can reuse plastic included. We don't need plastic buckets, tools or coffee machines, basins or sinks. We can do it the same way as we did 40 years ago. I bet there's plenty of that old stuff left in basements, sheds, ceilings or dumped. All good stuff we can use. Vintage is popular these days so if you use all these old items you are a cool person.

BTW if we throw out plastic we might be more caring, get cleaner, and do not buy as much trash we can't carry home or need after all.
