The Philippines has more holidays than other nations. Those wonderful local celebrations and festivals are focuses on many core values. We have a lot of holidays which are regular and special non-working holidays that celebrate national, religious, and cultural events.
These are the following regular non- working holidays in the Philippines:
New years day (January 1) - it is celebrated on the first day of the year followed by the gregorian and Julian calendar. During this day, people are watching some fireworks display and parades. This is also the start of the year that we look forward to as we resolve.
Maunday Thursday (March 29) - it happened before Easter. It is the day we remembered when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and established the ceremony called eucharist. This is the day where judas betrayed Jesus.
Good Friday (March 30) - this is the commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus. During this day we don't allow to eat kinds of meat but we are allowed to eat fish and vegetables.
Day of valor (April 9) - also known as Bataan or corregidor day. Bataan was fall during world war 2.
Labor day ( may 1) - an annual holiday as we celebrated the achievement of workers.
Independence day (June 12) - this is an annual holiday commemorating the declaration of the Philippines ' independence from Spain in 1898. It's the end of British rule in 1947.
National heroes day (august 27) - it is celebrating by attending parades wreath-laying, shrines, etc. This is the anniversary of pugad lawin, the beginning of the philippine revolution.
Bonifacio day (November 30) - is celebrated on his birth date. This is because of the controversial events on which ìs was executed by his fellow revolutionaries during the time of the Philippine Revolution.
Christmas day (December 25) - a holiday that commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. Many people decorate their homes, visit family or friends, and exchange gifts. ... Some groups arrange meals, shelter, or charitable projects for people without a home or with very little money.
Rizal day (December 30) - is a Philippine national holiday commemorating the life and works of José Rizal, a national hero of the Philippines. It is celebrated every December 30, the anniversary of Rizal's 1896 execution at Bagumbayan in Manila.
Special non-working holidays are the holidays enacted by the congress or declared under the judgment of the president. Some of the special non-working holidays include:
Chinese new year ( February 16)-is also known as the Spring Festival. It is the most important celebration in the Chinese calendar.
EDSA Revolution (February 25)-The People Power Revolution (also known as the EDSA Revolution and the Philippine Revolution of 1986) was a series of popular demonstrations in the Philippines that began in 1983 and culminated in 1986. The methods used amounted to a sustained campaign of civil resistance against regime violence and electoral fraud.
Black Saturday (March 31)- it is the day after Good Friday which commemorates the day that Jesus Christ lay in a tomb after his death.
Ninoy Aquino day (august 21)- it is commemorating the death anniversary of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino Jr.
All saints day(November 1) Visiting tombstones to honor the memory of deceased relatives.
The last day of the year(December 31)-known as new years eve.

Employees that work on regular holidays gets 200% of the sum of their daily rate and the daily cost of living allowance. While who work on special holidays get 130%.
