7 ROCKFALL EVENTS RECORDED IN THE VOLCANO MAYON IN THE LAST NIGHT BNFM BICOL — Phivolcs recorded seven rockfall events in Mayon Volcano last night. The volcano is still in Alert Level 1 abnormal status so the public is constantly being kept from entering its 6 km permanent danger zone. Based on Phivolcs' ground deformation data, the volcanic area is still swollen although there has been a slight subsidence of its central part since July 2020. Its emissions are less than the baseline average of 436 tonnes / day. Phivolcs warns that Mayon is still in abnormal condition so the risk of rockfall and the possible sudden eruption of ash from its top remains. It also avoids the public from the streams and river channels that the lahar goes through, especially during bad weather and during the rainy season. Phivolcs continues to monitor volcanic activity for immediate notification and warning to the public and those concerned.
