We all know that some Filipinos are friendly, helpful, cheerful, and sociable. Those are some good characteristics of Filipino but Filipino also have a bad habit and we can't deny it. These behaviors affect the entire nation, so we need to try to address a problem instead of creating new ones.

Some negative traits of Filipinos are:

  • Procrastination. This is also known as the "mañana habit". The common habit of young people today is to postpone their school activities just like projects. They have become accustomed to passing on projects given to them by teachers when they are to be submitted. It makes them stress because they force themselves to finish the activities earlier. It can also cause unpleasant results of what we do because we no longer have time to beautify it. These words they used "bukas na lang, mamaya na lang or sa susunod na lang" is due to laziness.

  • "Bahala na" attitude. This is a mentality of what goes around comes around. They are trusting of belief in holy providence or leaving everything in the hands of fate.

  • Crab mentality or crab brain. This is the root of insecurity. It is based on the belief that "if I can not get what I want, you must not get what you want. On people, the crab mentality is bad behavior, because it has selfishness. A person who will do everything even if others trample on him just to get what he wants. This person will do everything to prevent his fellow man from succeeding due to envy, conspiracy, and competitiveness.

  • Lack of self-discipline. This is reflected in how Filipinos break laws to save time. For instance, a "jaywalking rules" Filipinos will still choose to cross the disastrous road because it's more convenient to cross there. Laziness and lack of enough internal strength prevent one from being more self-disciplined. In this situation, one avoids doing things that require effort and perseverance.

  • Filipino time. It refers to the Filipinos have their own time which is known to be minutes or hours behind the scheduled or standard time. This is an unpleasant habit that needs to change by Filipino people because it hinders productivity and progress. You may think that you're only wasting your time but other people's time also.

  • Ningas Kugon. Filipinos are interested to start a plan but the attention slowly fades away leaving the word unfinished.

  • Balat Sibuyas. Filipinos are popular for being onion-skinned or easily wounded at perceived insults.

So, who are you that I've mentioned above?

Generally, it happened all of these toxic Filipino traits to is but for me, I always do the procrastination or the mañana habit. It has happened to me when I got lazy and sometimes I got prioritize unimportant things rather than important matters. So, I try to fix these issues by thinking about how to avoid laziness:

  1. Do things in advance. do it while there is still time.

  2. make a permanent and peaceful place to not be bothered to work.

  3. if you take away the things that can give us busy such as mobile phones, computers, television, etc.

  4. We put in our minds that I need to finish the project even further off the deadline.

  5. Adjust the time management. If possible finish the easy task first then followed by the hard one. Also, do a realistic work schedule.

Negative characteristics, that’s what these habits are. But luckily for us, we’re also known for being resilient, for being strong, and go on with everything can be better. But for this change to happen, we must be willing to subject ourselves to change as well. Let’s not let these habits bring down who we are as individuals and as a nation. Be the change that this country needs.

Lol this is indeed true.., I actually have all those traits before.. But to some point.. I was to change for good and control myself to stop those traits.. Bit most of the filipinos still carry those traits.. I guess it won't fade anymore.. It is already ingrained in Filipinos.
