Even before PAGASA dropped this announcement, the typhoon was considered the strongest to hit the world in 2020. Typhoon Rolly is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday, November 3. Due to the location of the Philippines in the Pacific Ocean, typhoons often hit the country. Some in extreme force caused severe damage just like Typhoon Yolanda on November 8, 2013.

Authorities have counted 10 victims so far in the Bicol region from Category 5 Typhoon Rolly (Goni), the world’s strongest this year, in the provinces of Albay and Catanduanes.

Rolly threw away massive rain and whipped up strong winds in Southern Luzon early on Sunday (November 1), causing massive flooding and lahar flow from Mayon Volcano in the towns of Guinobatan and Camalig in Albay.

In Guinobatan town, Albay, three residents from two villages—San Francisco and Travesia—at the foot of Mayon was killed when lahar, a mix of volcanic debris and water, came rushing down to populated areas at the height of Rolly.

The typhoon packed sustained wind of up to 225 kph and gustiness of 310 kph when it made its second landfall near Tiwi town, also in Albay at 7:20 a.m. on Sunday.

Let me share with you a video and pictures where lahar flow happened. I am a resident of barangay San Rafael. It's almost so close to reaching our barangay of lahar flowing and I thank God that he saves us.

This video is only part of guinobatan where I am, but the entire Albay affected by supertyphoon rolly.

This house has been almost swallowed by landslides.
This is where the lahar flow passed.
Their properties are almost washed out and covered with mud.
A tricycle stock and covered by the mud
A huge rocks coming from Mayon volcano.
They are trying to save their belongings and properties.
In that area, some families lived there where lahar flow passes. They are all dead.

For those who quarry and for those in government who allow excessive quarrying at the foot of Mayon Volcano, that is the face of families whose lives have been ruined. They pay for the quarrying that takes place. The feeling of a father just staring while digging his son's corpse. The tears of a mother who has been looking for her child for 2 days and can be found buried in the sand in a town 25km away from their house. The hardships of a grandmother who tried to evacuate but could not cope with the passion of lahar and she were completely buried. The nervousness of a child who had to lift his old father to be evacuated to a high place because lahar was coming. The grief of the families who did not save even clothes and have problems with how to get up and start again. It's heartbreaking.

How long will we abuse nature? How long will we allow other people to get rich in exchange for the lives of families who have nothing to gain from that quarrying? How many lives are needed? How much else does it need to be deleted from the map? How many more stories to pass? These are our places: Maipon, San Francisco, Travesia, San Rafael, Busay. Names of barangays that have almost disappeared from the map. And in those barangays, hundreds of families have to start from scratch.

Please stop quarrying for the sake of families who continue to be affected. According to our governor Bichara, the lava came from volcanic debris and not quarrying. However, I am still pushing for an investigation on the quarrying done at the foot of the volcano. They are partly to blame for the devastation brought about by the typhoon.

Now, another LPA in the eastern Visayas was facing is already a hurricane or Tropical Depression, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). It will be called Typhoon Tonyo, in case it is considered a full-fledged typhoon by PAGASA and will immediately raise Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in large parts of the Visayas, BicolRegion, and CaragaRegion due to the approaching typhoon which is expected to landfall in EasternSamar this afternoon or evening. Please be alert and monitor other updates now that there is another threat of typhoons in our country.

It has caused great damage to the country due to the storm surge. Due to the devastation caused by the country, many provided and delivered assistance from around the world. However, controversy has tarnished these donations after some donations were not handed out, including those caught in Bulacan. Hoping not to happen again.
