In the column, "The Digital Divide: The Challenge of Technology and Equity," the author tried to express his point of view on how technology influences us in our daily living.

It is very apparent that the concept of this article, is to notify the readers that even though we are now living in a "Digital World," there are some region of the world's population does not have access to computers and internet, as stated in the second paragraph. However, the challenge in this digital divide lies the question -- Who has access to the internet?

As stipulated by the author, it is between populations who have access to the internet and Information Technology tools and those who don't is based on financial status, race, education and geographic location. Furthermore, it is stated in the forth paragraph, the problem that worsen this disparities is that some races like African-American, Latinos and Native Americans have fewer jobs related to Information Technology compared to others. It is also presented by the author that also in schools show great difference in terms of income level of students. High concentrations of high-income students have high percentage of having internet connection compared to low-income students.

Overall the article tries to impart to the readers that even though we have internet and information technology that make our lives easier and for all we know, each one of us is now connected, we can never set aside the fact that some of the areas have no access to computers and internet. On the other hand, by using it right, the digital that divides us could be the key to unify us.
