7 MOMENTS WHEN IT IS NOT SAFE TO RESIGN AS A BRANCH PASTOR OR AN ASSISTANT PASTOR AND PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TO TAKE WHEN RESIGNING:
As a Branch Pastor, it is NOT PROPER to resign under the Following Circumstances:
Some of us have been very long in PRACTICAL MINISTRY.
It is better to learn from our EXPERIENCES and WISDOM, so as NOT TO MAKE CERTAIN MISTAKES.
Never allow ANGER lead you to where GRACE cannot keep you.
Every EXIT is a seed that becomes your own HARVEST.
Anywhere you see PROLONG DRYNESS IN MINISTRY, REBELLION is at work there.
1.WHEN YOU HAVE JUST BEEN TRANSFERRED FROM A VIABLE BRANCH TO A NOT TOO VIABLE LOCATION: No matter how you see it, it will be seen as a REACTION and NOT a VISION. It simply means you want to go back to the same 'Happening' Branch. I always counsel, you observe at least, two more transfers from the branch everybody expect you to have resigned from.
2.WHEN THERE IS A SALARY REVIEW DOWNWARDS OR A NEW POLICY YOU DONT LIKE:
Do not leave at this time. It makes it look like money is your focus in Ministry. In Ministry, your REAL SALARY is determined by the IMPACT you made.
If it is policy issue, by the time you start, you will still have to formulate your own Policies to run the Ministry. EVERY FOUNDER is a POLICY MAKER.
3.WHEN YOUR GOD FATHER, SENIOR BROTHER OR MENTOR WITHIN THE MINISTRY JUST RESIGNED:
Dont resign this time.
This one makes it look like you are following a Man and not God's direction. Stay with God and be in His Will. Human beings are not constant. Several factors can change them from what you think you know.
4. WHEN YOUR GENERAL OVERSEER IS GOING THROUGH A STORM:
Do not leave him at this time.
Allow everything get stabilized, so that it doesn't appear as you are abandoning him during a STORM.
No matter how careful you are, you must also go through your own STORM in Ministry.
Storms that will be caused by your own disobedience like that of JONAH going where he was not sent, or your obedience like that of Jesus going where he was sent.
5. WHEN YOU ARE ON SUSPENSION FROM A SINFUL ACT:
This is the MOTHER OF ALL MINISTERIAL MISFORTUNES. Stay and serve your punishment and allow that phase to be over before you resign.
IF YOU GO, YOUR FOUNDATION IS WRONG AND EVERYTHING MUST GO WRONG WITH YOU.
6. WHEN YOU HAVE STAYED TOO LONG IN A DRY LAND AND IT LOOKS AS IF YOU HAVE BEEN FORGOTTEN THERE:
DO NOT resign!. There is really no dry land anywhere. We only have dry men everywhere. Every land has something to offer you. From Money, to Men, to Mantles, to Maturity etc..
7. WHEN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM OR A QUARREL WITH YOUR BOSS: Hope you have not forgotten the book of Ecclesiastes Chapter 10 verse 4::: 'if the spirit of the ruler rises against you, remain in your place'. Don't always go when there is a QUARREL, BECAUSE YOUR EXIT WILL BE FAR MORE REMEMBERED
THAN YOUR ENTRY.
7 PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES:
1. Never woo members or pastors to follow you as you resigned, some loyalists must follow you but don't close your former church to start yours.
2. Never speak against your General Overseer or the Ministry you are living.
3. Never take any church property as you resign.
4. Don't do anything capable of soiling your relationship with your former boss.
5. Do proper handling over of all church moneys, instruments, real property etc.
6. It is strongly advised to go a long distance or out of the village or town where you resigned to start or join a Ministry.
7. Resigned from Ministry not relationship.
I have spoken based on my understanding at the moment. It is not a doctrine or a standard. It is just an advice..
WHEN YOU ARE SURE GOD IS LEADING YOU TO RESIGN, GO AHEAD AND OBEY GOD. BUT BE READY TO FACE THE CONSEQUENCES OF LEAVING UNDER THE ABOVE MENTIONED CIRCUMSTANCES.
