First comes first, you must complete the prerequisites listed down below:
Caldron / Pot (as vessel of the rice upon cooking)
Note: The art of cooking of rice is mainly thru soaking to hydration then via boiling (and evaporation) process. Its a must to get the pot as storage of the rinsed plain rice.
Clean source of water
Use to rinse the rice and to remove unwanted objects on the food.
Plain rice
Normally, white plain rice is the most available in our market. For fitness enthusiasts they always prefer brown rice due to its fiber content and more healthier which contains more nutrient. However, it is too costly as compared the the white rice.
Steps:
1.) Prepare the plain rice and make sure there no other bad elements or foreign matter (tiny rocks, empty rice hull, etc.) present. If you see any kind of dirts just remove it.
For the record, a well refined/milled plain white rice removes all the parts of the rice seed. On the contrary, brown rice is believed to be healthier due to not really well milled. Distinguishable on their physical state and color.
2.) Now, get a clean pot or caldron and scoop right quantity of rice. Remeber that a cooked rice is vulnerable to spoilage once left at room temperature. Therefore, don't cook to much if you will not consume it at once.
Our mothers always recommended to cook the right quantity of rice. Dont forget to store leftovers properly in the fridge to avoid deterioration. Then reheat when you want to eat again. Or use it to prepare other food like fried rice omelet.
3.) Firmly have water to rinse unwanted particles in the plain rice. Stir it thru your hands gently. Do it three times (3x). Others, swirl it just twice (2x) . Note that by not washing it can lead to smelly cookrd rice which spoils faster.
4.) Next is use your finger by simply dipping below the surface in able to measure the right volume of water for cooking rice.
Friendly advice: Remember this format of one is to one (1:1) ratio between on how deep the bottom from the surface of rinsed rice to quantity of water used to soak it.
5.) Lastly, place it under stove for more than half an hour. Wait for water to fully "drained" or 'evaporate'. Cooking time is always depends on amount of rice you placed on the pot.
Now, its time to eat your first rice partner with any ulam!
