MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has yet to decide on the return of the D-League, as it is waiting on the schedule of the two major collegiate leagues.
Teams from the UAAP and the NCAA regularly participate in the D-League to prepare for their own competitions. However, the Aspirants' Cup was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and at the moment, neither collegiate league has announced concrete plans for their next seasons.
The NCAA basketball tournament traditionally opens in July, with the UAAP following suit in September. Because of the coronavirus outbreak, the NCAA has delayed its opening, likely to 2021.
