The moon is rusting, the search is on because
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) spacecraft Chandrayaan-1 basically observes the polar region of the moon. Analyzing the data sent from that area, the researchers found that the type of light reflected from that area of the moon is different from the light from other areas. There they find the effect of something like rust in the spectrum.
In the meantime, a research article has been prepared on the reading of 'rust' on the moon. The article was written by a team of researchers from the University of Hawaii in the United States. It is expected to be published soon in the scientific journal Science Advances. Where it has been said, the everlasting silver moon is no longer silver. Its color is changing day by day in such a way that it seems as if the moon is rusting.
One type of iron oxide is rust. If iron is to rust, it must be exposed to oxygen. But the moon does not have an atmosphere. So there is no question of having oxygen. This is exactly what scientists are thinking.
Scientists say that although the moon does not have its own atmosphere, it may have a very small amount of oxygen under the influence of the Earth's magnetic field. Due to the influence of the Earth's magnetic field, oxygen can travel from here to the moon after traveling about 365,000 kilometers. This process, which has been going on for hundreds of years, may have caused the iron on the moon to rust.
Another possible reason may be the presence of ice on the moon. Ice has been found in a hole in the far surface of the moon. Somehow oxygen is released from this ice and rust is formed in the iron. However, scientists are not satisfied with these possible reasons. They want to know the real reason. And so the search for the cause of the rust on the moon has begun in earnest.
